Default ARD - August 3rd Visit...Pics !

...and another day well spent, in my favorite UK shop
after a little shopping around Uxbridge, the usual Tea and Biscuits,
headed to the shop and they were busy packing, lots of models being shipped, I guess the several shows like
Farnborough and Fairford have "delayed" things a bit...
so thats why my photos
were done on top of the Ikea Detolf cabinet, so I
wouldnt stand in the way.
Sorry for the poor quality of my pictures this time...

I was surprised to see the wooden models, and asked permission
to photograph them, of course Permission granted....
Paul said something like "its the way dreams begin"...and I agree !
I'm not an expert in military models, but I liked what I saw !
nicely done shapes, all hand work, simply amazing !
these take so many coats of primer and paint, that they
end up looking sooo smooth, just like my BA S-61N, which
I still admire in awe !Lovely work, and looking forward to
see the finished models !

Quite a nice surprise to see the amazing Brabazon in the "diecast",
heavy and well finished model by Sky Classics in two liveries,
check out the pictures for the amazing detail on the engines,
decals are also of great quality, pratically invisible to the eye...
looks like the details were painted straight on the model !
Sadly and due to my last month purchases, couldnt bring one of these "beasts"
with me this time...

BizJets, yes, they had loads !!!resin made, heavy feel ...
almost brought that Falcon they had, but saw something else
very unique, so had to make a tough decision...but it was worth it

Ashley, if you're watching this thread, heres something you mentioned before...they had one there, and I took a photo
if you still want one, this is your chance, as these were made for the manufacturer, Sukhoi themselves, and will be very rare in the near future.

Nice and unique Mariner too

Ah, the Comets, the Comets....

SM200- Special Models 200 new releases, these are decaled, and show off some very original and rare schemes...here:

Absolutely lovely 1:400 BEA Herald !!! the details on this small model are amazing, down to the wheels, not mentioning the superb paintwork !!!!!!!!!!!!

Another HM release, very retro,
very vintage !!!

And polished TWA B707, very very nice...
as the LH DC-10 too,...

but again, they're
all nice & I love them all
enjoy the rest of the photos at the usual
place, and hope to show you more
photos/models next month !
yours truly,
rc

just checked pics.did not KNOW ARD had these!!! i am assuming the comet is a pcm model, and could have got that yesterday as ARD had no models for me to collect. and the shuttle 747 cannot find on website, but looks like pcm again. might also get one of the two brabazons.

Thanks again for your superb pics Rui. Howsever I think some manufacturers are taking the p*ss!! A Brabazon in RAF markings with the serial number of a RAF C-130K Hercules?? As for that BOAC Comet 4 - that has to be a joke??? Wrong BOAC font titles, grey belly and what is that 'washing line' on the roof? I dread to think what price some poor unsuspecting buyer is expected to pay for that? Looks like the same maker that produced a BEA Vanguard with silver belly and tailplanes...sacriledge!!!

Thanks again Rui, some really nice items there. Hoping to get down there myself in the not too distant future. Those biz jets are cool, especially the Gulfstream with gear. The 'Speedjack Comet' looks great. I think I'm still in love with those large scale 777s

well adrian, belly des NOT look grey to me. ok, the font may be wrong, (you could put a decal over it). and the 'washing line' as you put it, is two wires running from aerials to the tail. now i am no expert, but i am sure i read somewhere that comets had this feature at some stage. although most produced. if not all, do not have them.
i have an executive nodels 1/100 comet 4.

Yes but Robert, your model looks completely different from Rui's photo? On the pic in ARD,the belly looks grey and the wings silver and those aerials are far too clumbersome. Yes there should be a fine aerial there but hardly visible and yours appears to have no aerials? The wing tank lettering is too small and looks hand-painted but overal your model looks much better and not the same at all.

The ARD photo by Rui looks to be as you observed Adrian. Dunno if that grey is a trick of the light, but font is not ok. If that antenna wire is correct in principle, its still too hefty even in this large scale. The truth is that in 1:1 scale you could hardly even notice them. These look like heavey crane cables. A case of over-egging like 200 scale antennae. Small etched brass or don't bother at all.

Quite what possesses folks to produce such fantasy models... Shame really - I like the Mars and I think the civilian Timberwest Mars models are quite well executed, but that one is...

I was thinking of placing an order for an SM200 model......but comments like this make me think twice. Can someone educate me as to why the DC-10 models may or may not be worth it?

Thanks John, very-very nice but I'd need a closer look to commit money like that...... I got a funny feeling I may have bought one or perhaps two of these B772s .... an Emirates one (current livery), from the UK off ebay. I thought it was a die-cast but it feels and looks like solid resin. Came in one piece in a plain box with white poly-foam halves and red ribbon-ties and a solid wood base and stylishly swept forward curving shiny silver stand. The other was a Singapore (current livery) from TradeMe (NZ), same deal..... hmmm ...will look more closely at this ARD shop ..... so will my struggling bank account ..... 150 GBP a pop.....ouch!

well these are DIECAST joe. using gemini mould i believe. come with NO stands too. these are ONLY available from ARD. so any you see on ebay are pobably not these. unless someone has decided to sell theirs for whatever reason, because i very much doubt they would even get half their money back. those resin models with silver curved arms and wood base are china. not very good either and cheap as chips. so don't pay too higher price for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
