I have loved this jet for awhile. Still looking for a Gemini Pan Am. I would like to start a request post to rerun this aircraft with a different clipper name. This thread is of course for lovers of this aircraft. So post pics.
That's a terrific picture! I should dig out the boxes and pose my pair like that, too.
I wonder if GJ would consider doing a 747-200 next, in the same classic livery. I have an Inflight 747 "Clipper Young America" and (soon) a "Billboard" 747. It would be nice to have one in the "transition" livery, with the bold Pan Am.
Anyway, sorry to hijack, the Pan Am L-1011 is a beautiful model, I'm very fond of mine.
I rather hope GJ will do a billboard SP next... Given the seeming enthusiasm with which the recent SP has been snapped up, I'd have thought the billboard SP would be a no-brainer for GJ
posted elsewhere, but here you go...the 10-500 is part of my small fleet of Pan Am that is the focus of fleet expansion...Thanks mostly to the L-1011-500 and the Boeing 747SP.

and heres the very first one ! the " cat out of the bag", as Russel so well put it !
This was in fact the very serious beginning for me in the 1:200 scale world
So no one has answered my question. How do we get Gemini to re release another PAN AM model? do we petition for another clipper name? Do we contact them directly? What to do?
You could email them, but they may be fairly hesitant as in the Tristar hung about for quite a while ( as does most Pan Am stuff ) before becoming 'sold out'...
Whilst hundreds of dollars get banded about, it is only the aftermarket wallahs that 'benefit' from that, not the manufacturers.
Wish I had sold my Inflight Pan Am DC10 when it was only one a dozen... !

So you removed the Pan Am titles and escape route printing on the wings of the B707 PanAm short title model N767PA eh?

No Sir, I'm a lousy modifier of pre-made display models. She landed this way~right out of the box years ago. This was one of the first delivered to my retailer when IF shipped to the US.

I see it is an IF200 release. What I got is AV200 B0707 Pan Am with titles and wing escape routes printed on the wings. I am in a hunt for Pan Am B747-100 Blue cheatline livery. Thanks.
The photos posted of this subject are much better than the ones I could take of mine. I figured a few Pan Am experts would read this thread. What is the deal with this?

I don't profess to be an "expert" on "The World's Most Experienced Airline", but I have seen this before on eBay.
It has nothing to do with Pan Am per se, but instead is by a Japanese artist called Yoshinori Sunahara. The CD contains "groovy electronica airport lounge sound" and contains such tracks as "Theme from Takeoff (Magic Sunset)", "Clippers Discotique Break", and "Theme from Landing (Life for Living)".
It does apparently contain a 12 page color booket on Pan Am. They must have authorized the use of their trademark...strange.
Just the thing to play, when you are sitting down, relaxing, admiring your Pan Am collection!
Nice cover photo, too. Someone should buy it, and tell us about it. There's one on there now, for about $40 U.S.
Those musics are great, very nostalgic and work as time machines, for us retro prop/jets lovers ...airport announcements, etc, all in a smooth tune...recommend it for sure
rc
But this is still my favorite, if you really want to enjoy your PanAm collection
wow the prices vary on e-bay from $49.00 to 599.00 crazy. still intrested in purchesing one.
That $49.00 must be a starting bid, or a mistake. If you can get a 1:200 L-1011 for that price, you would be crazy not to snap it up. On the other end, that $599 is extreme, I doubt he will get half that.

It kills me that I had this model, but I had to return it because the paint was severely smudged on the top of the fuselage and the silver edge on the #2 nacelle was damaged. By the time I went to reorder it they had sold out.

Herb & wu6fiend, That kills me even more being that I had it for less than retail and got hosed by a defect and bad timing! Thanks for the heads up though...
What I find frustrating is th the person on eBay asking $600 on eBay is deliusnal. But if he believe that's what some one will pay for it oh we'll, and on eBay you never know what your getting. I will be putting models up on eBay soon. The models are fine the boxes are so so because, the store I bought them from piles them on there shelf. I could not resonably ask for eight times the amount of their worth. My $.02 cents. I do believe we all have a right to make a buck. I do not think it is right to gouge other airline hobbyist.
I agree the $599 price is way out of line. He has had to relist it at least once, maybe more, due to no buyer. The model seems to bring a consistent $175 price, maybe a little more. It is a beautiful model, and well worth that, IMO.

You're welcome- be patient. You never know when one will appear for s market price. I've purchased many models well after the typical "rare", "sold-out" claims are made for reasonable amounts.
Good Luck!

I agree. I bought my L-1011 from a local fellow, after finding it on line and making an offer. It doesn't hurt to ask if a seller would be open to negotiate, particularly if he/she has had no success selling a model for a certain price. If there are three on eBay right now, I would guess one of the sellers would realize he/she has competition, and respond accordingly.
It is funny how "rare" "impossible to find" "sold out worldwide" etc. models will appear for sale, sometimes in surprising numbers.
I unfortunately had to sell my collection to buy a car but I still have photos of them. Now that I'm working more hours, I'd love to reacquire this one.

Don't believe the hype.
"Rare", "sold out", limited, and "last one"...are some of the most over used terms in sales across the board these days. Especially with some of the sellers at Ebay.
In the past fifteen years of collecting, there hasn't been one model that hasn't shown up somewhere for market or under market prices.
