This is what Rod say on another forum:

Ok, this explains the photo I got. I was wondering where it came from.
I wouldnt get all excited about this being the "First" release. If I were a betting man,
and I live in Las Vegas, I would say there is a 66% this Won't be the first release.

He also said this:

Lets just say I have had the samples of a couple of other airlines in
my hands and to my knowledge they are further along in the development
process than the HA model is.

Oh well if the HA isn't first, I wonder what else would need to be done with the one in the photos it looked pretty complete. Id be interesting to know what was left in its process.

Still excited for the A330 no matter what the first scheme is. Guessing Delta if not Hawaiian.

Knowing GJ and the current trend of airlines they're releasing, there will be Hawaiian, US Airways, Delta, Northwest, maybe Air Canada (if they have a -300 mold too) and that will be it.

It appears GJ own the mould and their trend of initial releases are mostly US airliners as you mentioned then followed by Euro releases like KLM, Aeroflot and Air France. Possibly next are Middle East airliners like Emirates and Etihad. Oceania airliner would be Qantas.

I am hoping it will be shared with AV200 for the other airline releases for Cathay, Singapore, Oman Air, TAM, Thai Airways, Philippine Airlines, Air China, etc

Yeah Moin... Although I like those, and really want a US Airways A332 I'd also like to see some Etihad, Oman Air, Avianca, Thai, Jet Airways, and others that would also be very cool to see done besides the basic run of the mill releases.

Does anyone else find Rod's explanation confusing ? A Hawaiian A330 sample is on the shelf for display, supposedly being released in August or September. But the first release will most likely be something else? Last year CV and someone else suggested Hawaiian would be the first A330. And I think most believe that by now. Assuming Gemini is only starting with the A330-200 with RR Engines. What else could it be?

Maybe...
-Emirates (likely)
-US Airways (likely)
-Garuda (meh)
-Egyptair (possible)
-Gulf Air (not likely)
-China Eastern (not likely)
-China Southern (not likely)
-Thomas Cook (possible)
-Bmi (meh)
-Jet Airways (not likely)

It doesn't really matter what the initial GJ200 A332 model release will be. I am more than thrilled to see the new mould is in existence and it seems accurate. We can only speculate what would be the first model, most likely a US airliner or a European.

Who is to say that those are only RR engines and not also PW's. Using one mold for two different engines. GJ would never do that now would they. Also maybe for some crazy unseen reason GJ's made a couple different samples to see how the mold would look.

US Airways and delta (hence northwest) has PW engines on the -200. The one depicted in the picture has RR which are completely different. From pas experience GJ don't make 2 engine types for a newly released mold. So the chances are reduced to a330 sporting the RR option. The question is when the first one would be released.

Francisco

If we stick with RR engines here are the A330-200 operators :

Aeroflot
Air China
Air Europa
Air Transat
Avianca
bmi
China Eastern
China Southern
Corsair
Egyptair
Emirates
Etihad
Garuda
Gulf Air
Hainan
Hawaiian
Hong Kong Airlines
Jet Airways
MEA
Monarch
Oman Air
Sichuan
South African
Sri Lankan
Thomas Cook
US Airways
Virgin Australia
XL Airways France
Yemenia

In bold are my best bets for the RR engined models to come first &
in italic underlined are others possible.

Actually US went with RR engines in there A332s, so the mould we've seen would work. Also since Russ has said the Hawiian may not be the first release, GJ may be releasing another engine type first. Also, since there is a good chance that the A330 mould will be very popular, perhaps GJ could/would release 2 first, with different engine types or even a 200 and a 300. Just my 2 cents.

Seems like once again, cockpit window placement is an issue on Gemini 200 models. And the nose seems pretty sharp but that could be due to the type of picture taken.

Finally!
We see our first 1:200 A330 in diecast! And to think this would be a big announcement, when it just pops up in the Airplane Shop. This beats that Gemini RC thing by a country mile. I am very, very excited about the new A330! Also surprised that it just showed up.

Crownvic this is your cue to materialize!

I assume Hawaiian will be first (which is fine with me, I'll buy it!). Is there any set release date (I know someone mentioned August/September).

This is quite possibly the most exciting thread on DA.C in a while, in my opinion.

Thanks to the OP for sharing and giving us our first glimpse! Is it possible to get any more photos?

That was the big news!

The first release will most likely be whatever airline is first in line to approve their respective Gemini 1:200 A330 sample, unless Gemini goes with a release that doesn't need airline approval.

I'd like a good shot of the tailplanes----their 1/400 had the wrong ones.

Just IMHO, but the -200 seems an odd choice---unique v.stab, unique fuselage. (as opposed to the obvious -300 choice, which shares almost everything with the most-common A340 as well--basically 2 molds for the price of 1.5)

IMO it looks quite nice. There are a couple little things that might be problematic but I'm hopeful they will be corrected soon enough.

Horizontal tails? They are the same between the -200 and -300 (unless you mean they just got them wrong for all A330/340s). Only the vertical tails are different (and there are two different vertical tails out there for the -200: an older, longer one and the shorter "Post Mod 48979" one).

Yes, I know--but *Gemini* made the horizontal tailplanes on their 1/400 A330-200 much larger than on their 330-300 and 340-300. I think they actually put A340-500/600 stabs on their 330-200 for some reason. It affects every release AFAIK.

That's why I'm worried about their 1/200 version, if they based this new mold on the same incorrect info/measurements as their 1/400.

Hopefully they can get all this mixup settled. It only gets more complicated when they have an A340 in the mix.

Wrong...they start with the least popular foreign airlines first, the progress to the biggest airlines of the USA and Europe. The 330 has been put on hold anyway gotta get those r/c planes out.
