Surprised no one has mentioned the current S7 - one of my all-time favorite contemporary liveries on so many levels!

Although nothing compared to the Skyvan, something about this aircraft never quite sat right with me.

I have to admit, I am too, but a large part of that is simply the design of the aircraft, which I find not only quite stylish, but very 'futuristic' in its own way. So from my perspective, this is a clear win-win and super-cool.
Of course, what may come as a surprise to some here, is the Branding and livery were designed by the London-based design firm Landor & Associates.

Nah, they said to him "Do your stuff on this 777, Peter, and we'll add the titles". I've seen his work and it all looks the same so Continental knew exactly what to expect. He uses the same paint colours on everything!

Any Asian airline that daubs its aircraft with silly childish cartoon characters. Honestly, do giggling Japanese school girls run these airlines?

I like the apple-green livery of the S-7 Tupolev. It's the silhouettes of the people on the sides that's kind of creepy.

The inclusion of standing figures does look a bit weird, but I'm assuming Landor must of had a reason. Beats me . . .

By popular demand (not really) here are the Pepsi models. the one with the pic i thought was of an 80's glam rocker (who could it be?);
turns out it's supposed to be Britney Spears

I've tried to remember ever seeing the salmon as any major team mascot, any level of government's flag that has ANY fish on it's flag outside of Alaska. The fish isn't even in it's natural habitat, it's out of water and has death frozen on its face. I don't recall the fish having ANY majestic quality revealed by ANYONE except natives back in the day who relied on them for food. Finally to have a water animal on an AIRplane just doesn't fit. it's like putting Shamu on the plane, but unlike the salmon the orca is at least desirable to look at, salmon...not so much unless your hungry

The model is sold out of most everywhere, so it couldn't have been that unpopular. I myself am wondering why I didn't commit to one sooner.

From what I understand it the salon thirty salmon was intended to be a advertisement for the Alaskan fishing industry, which paid for the livery. Anyway is gone now, it was repainted back into the AS cooperate livery earlier this year. The livery looked pretty ragged when I was it at work this summer. Anyway, I'm wondering why this livery hadn't been posted yet

Ugly Peter Max and Alaska - No way. They are beautiful
Yananyi can be counted as an ugly scheme but look at the prices this model sells for. They dont even come up that often.

For me it's this one!
In the mid-1980s Lufthansa was looking for a new livery - and a Swiss design-bureau came up with this fantastic idea... It was tested on D-ABFW only - and was consequently not adopted, because it was not popular within the company and passengers alike.

Only two other scripts are worse...Kristen and Chalkboard, and I've seen them used on airliners, too...just can't remember when.

If you have to "learn" to like it...it's self evident that it' not natural. how do you know they aren't high when they are doing their art?

Yes, just because something is historical and/or ethnic, it doesn't automatically make it good.
Note however, that I am referring to the liveries here, not an entire genre of art.

I love the aboriginal planes and I think the rarity of the models as well as the prices they command are a true indicator of how the aviation community receives them.

Isn't that a bit of a misnormer though?? I mean, just about anything unusual like that seems to end being a rare sought after model anyway!
Also, aren't they rare purely because it takes so much effort just to produce one correctly?? (The IF 200 Ndizani springs to mind).

I'm sure there are plenty of works out there I'd like, but I have just never taken to these liveries, especially the '747s for some daft reason.

Re: What is the ugliest Liverys you've seen; model or real
The JAT Airways 'spots' livery is awful, and very unimaginative. I wasn't keen on their previous 'swirl colours' on the tail, but ut even that was better than the current one. Ugliest/unimaginative livery has to go to the current 'monochrome' Finnair livery. Can't call it colours, as there aren't any in it.

Can't agree with you there. I think the liveries of the 60s and early70s are the best. It's been great seeing all these retro schemes these days. Bring back the cheatline!

Hey, dont knock that Skyvan ....its from Austria and I have Austrian heritage (my mother). Austria is the cultural mecca of all Europe! Classical music, churches, The Sound of Music et al........(only joking about the Skyvan......that is one ugly mother of a plane. ....... makes you wonder about the creator of that "work of art"...... The chopper takes a firm second ....looks like a bunch of children were let loose with a packet of huge fluro-markers!
