Maple leaf. Just really cool. I like the gray and variegated metal details on the engines and the wings. Perfectly executed.

Re: JC Wings 1:200 Air Canada or Royal Jordanian Lockheed L-1011
Royal Jordanian! One of the best color schemes on the short L-1011!
A true classics from the 90's!
But if you prefer white top liveries this might have to much paint for your collection

Re: JC Wings 1:200 Air Canada or Royal Jordanian Lockheed L-1011
There are about a thousand different reasons why one may choose one over the other. In my case, I'd consider the AC if I was either doing a 'Canadian' or AC theme.
The Royal Jordanian would be my first choice if I was doing an 80's-90's international theme -- especially of very exotic liveries, of which this is.
There you go . . . my 2¢ worth. Good luck / Bonne chance!

Well let me put it this way... If you were me, you would get the Air Canada
Maybe this can help you decide
It's the GJ200 version, but looks exactly like the JC wings (except for the "Singapore 1985" title on the tail)
Anyone have a picture of the Jordanian ?

Well, in that case then, no, GET THE CANADIAN!!
I have never been a massive fan of the Tristars, they just never quite look right to me, but I might just get that RJ.

I suppose eventually JC might consider releasing the Jordanian Tristar in Royal Flight markings...................

There have been a two threads / poles on the best model released in 2011. From what I remember the Royal Jordanian ranked very highly

I want one, but its a Tristar!
Meh!
Still, at least it isn't as bad as the DC-10. I always feel like the engine and tail is about to topple off the back of one of those at any given moment.

The L-1011 and DC-10 have always been kind of odd looking ducks to me as well, hence I don't have either of each (yet). That said, the Royal Jordanian IS, without a doubt, the more 'rich' looking of the two.
But I stand on my earlier position . . . the choice should be made on the scope and direction of ones collection. In my case, neither of these fit.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who thinks these planes just look odd... ugly even... well, the DC - 10 at least. Annyway, the Royal Jordanian may be more rich looking, but just look at the picture above - the proportions are just wrong!!
Its almost as bad as an SP! (which oddly I like).

I'm just swithering whether to get a ruddy great Tristar or not

Proportions or not, I find the livery 'exquisite' (in an overly lavish sort of way), so that is what I'm really getting sucked into here. If it was on another airframe, I may have a different opinion, but frankly, the L-1011 just doesn't do it for me, so I too will be leaving this for others who can enjoy 'the complete enchilada'.

Although, I gotta admit: The grey L1011 - when seen from the side - does look like a cruise missile.

The tri-jets L1011, DC-10 and B727 may not be aesthetically pleasing and non-conformance to a cookie cutter design mould, but its engineering design proved to be the most economical and efficient during those times. I find the tri-jets aircraft design as elegant and unique.
Talking about the odd and hideous looking airframe of today and that would go to the behemoth Airbus A380. I called it a flying beluga whale in which the nose/cockpit section resembles the animal head!

After GJ messed up the 400 scale, I thought hope was dashed until AV200 let this one fly. Next to Pan Am, it is THE best.

To each his own, as they say. I'll pass on the L-1011/DC-10, but I am big fan of the 727.
We WILL agree on the abhorrent nature of the A380, though. Beluga whale describes it about right, IMPO.

Re: JC Wings 1:200 Air Canada or Royal Jordanian Lockheed L-1011
Actually the 727 is very aesthetically pleasing. It may have not been the first rear engine airliner, but I still loved flying aboard them, especially leaping off the runway in Dallas on Delta. The L-1011 and Big 10 are also high on the visual meter as they were a pleasure to be aboard as well. Flying down to Florida on Eastern, or a glass of wine of the Grand Canyon on AA; it was good times and the rides were big and beautiful.

Yeah . . . I didn't see '727' in Firefly's post there when I initially responded.
The 727 is one of my favourite aircraft, and for pure aesthetic reasons, I can't put it in the same category as the L-1011 or DC-10.

if by md-10 you mean dc-10 then no i probably wouldn't,its not the age that bothers me, its being someone who will generaly get the most modern version of an aircraft so I would go for the md-11 (mainly plastic resin in 1:200 i think) which is simmilar but is modernized and has a glass cockpit.

L1011-500 - AV/JC200/GJ200 owned and shared mould. Nose and cockpit close to that bottle nose dolphin shape, good cockpit windows shape/print. Single piece fuselage construction so polished finish are possible. GJ200 superb releases are Pan-Am, Delta Widget, Air Canada and British Airways Landor. AV200 released both fantastic Jordanian and LTU models.

Re: JC Wings 1:200 Air Canada or Royal Jordanian Lockheed L-1011
hello guys again, i'm on the verge of buying the RJ l-1011 but i was just wondering what the odds of getting a dud model were (by dud i'm mainly conserned about the printing of the cockpit windows), what are the odds of getting a model with badly (uneven, wonky, too high or too low) printed cockpit windows, its a thing I ALWAYS worry about.
thanks.... James

The windows, cockpit, painting infact the whole model is spot on! Awesome release by JC!
The Royal Jordanian is my number one model from 2011!

It's always a risk. But given the overwhelming positive responses from those here who have bought it, I'd say the odds are in your favour, so just 'go for it'.
