Do yous dudes have any 1:48 Armour Collection models? I saw some at the Airplane Shop when I was back east for the Newark show in September and I was impressed. Those things have weight to 'em, plus they appear to have relatively good detail. The F-14 I spied looked really bitchin'. If I remember correctly, the models offered in 1:48 include the F-4, F-104, F-15, F-16, F-18, F-14, F-117, P-14, P-51, P-38, Spitfire, JU-87, and FW 190.
What do yous guys make of these things? Are they worth the price of admission? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Tanks! |

Hey Dude!
Thae are like totally radical man!!! I own an F-14 which is the VF-31 Tomcatters Squadron. Beautiful plane but many mistakes. However most people wouldnt really know the difference and for what you get they are very reasonable considering the amount of metal and some of the painting. Too bad they were not totally tampo printed. I Wish Danny would make a miltiary diecast division. I am sure he could blow away what armour has done and make a mint. These things in 1:48 scale are blowing off the shelves in Toronto but I have heard other places are not so fortunate!. Cant wait till they do an A-10. They need someone at Armour who nows something about Military planes and their markings. They are suffering from the same symptoms Herpa has with the Airliners!...They haven't got a clue! Still for the money you get a great product.

Colin! What's up, dude? Thanks for the response. I have no knowledge of Navy/Marine/Air Force markings so that aspect of Armour's offerings would have never occured to me if you didn't point that out. So these things aren't tampo printed? Are they decaled?
Of the numerous military aircraft I wish they'd relaease, the A-6/EA-6 has to lead the list. I could also go for a S-3 and an E-2. Go Navy! Brian |

I have seen most of the 1:48 stuff and I own a few. They are awesome. Simply awesome. The 1:48 AV-8B is unreal. The weight of the thing alone is impressive.
I recommend them to anyone who collects military aircraft. The 1:100 series os good as well. Steve

I Have 10 Armour 1:48's and I agree they are awesome. The fit and finish is first rate for a product that does not cost thousands of dollars.
The airframes are just about bang on for the ones I have and most came with a descent load hanging off of them. Some of the ordinance could use a little more detail but that's about all these things really need. You have to remember that squadron markings and general paintjobs are almost always a work in progress with subtle and drastic changes being constantly made throughout the aircraft's career. The model on your shelf unless it represents a specific event is mearly a snapshot in time and if the markings are a bit off, who can say with any certainty that it did not look like this at some point in its service. Go ahead and buy them and enjoy them for they are, awesome IMHO.

I'd recommend these 100%, in my own humble opinion these are easily the best diecast model aircraft out there and wonderful value for money. As Ozz say's, military aircraft markings change so much that it's difficult to be precise about them, a snapshot is a perfect description. I've got quite afew and love them all, but hurry as since Franklin Mint bought them nobody seems to know what will happen to them.

As I stated in an earlier post the Armour 1:48 are awesome. I especially like the ME-262, F-104, F-14 and F-15 . They are getting hard to find due to the Franklin Mint acquisition and have increased in value in a matter of weeks. I was fortunate to get a few of them and highly recommend.
Happy New Year! |
