Re: Air Force One Replacement
My first post.. New here! Imagine an A380 as Air Force One... That would be awesome.. They shd definitely go for the A380.. I can already imagine the top deck having a spa or a swimming pool for the president...

Re: Air Force One Replacement
I doubt that America would buy an A380 as the next Air Force One. AF1 represents a symbol of America, and if it gets handed off to a European contractor (airbus), that's like slapping America across the face. Of course I personally would like to see an A380 AF1 but I just don't think its a reality. They will probably pick the 747-800, or maybe the 400 if the 800 is not developed in time. There will also be issues of national security, they would have to tell Airbus (if they chose them) what avionics to integrate, communications, defense...etc. And that is something a country would want to entrust in their own companies. boeing has done a good job on previous AF1 and i think it would be given to them.

A airbus 380 as air force 1.Just my opinion but I don't see that happening. As Kung Fu man stated, the president on a foreign built plane, not good.Besides it's a new plane, not really time tested.Again only my opinion but i predict a crash within the first year.

Sorry, but i didn't understand. O predict a crash for the A380 in it's first year of what? 1 year flying time? 1 year commercial service? 1 year after being AF 1?

Re: Air Force One Replacement
Wait and see what the Obama administration does about this. I think this is a dead horse for the foreseeable future; an easily dropped item to allow funds to be used for other purposes.
The 747s can easily fly for another 30 years.

Re: Air Force One Replacement
Just saw Executive 1 aka AF1 takeoff from Andrews with Bush on board for the last time. What a beautiful liftoff. Just floated into the air.

Re: Air Force One Replacement
IMO, B747-8 will be the next AF1 - whenever that happens

Re: Air Force One Replacement
For those who doesn't know, the first commercial fligth of the A380 was on 27th October 2007, SQ flight Singapore-Sydney. So, more than 1 year flying and no crash.

That Would Be In The Belly Of The Aircraft. That's Where Restaurants, Gymnasiums & Staterooms Were Proposed For Normal Commercial Use. Don't Know The Practicality Of A Swimming Pool Though. Lot Of Spillage & Would Significantly Reduce Range & Endurance.

Re: Air Force One Replacement

Dear Imranbecks,
It’s bigger than a hot air balloon, it’s bigger than a helicopter,
and it’s bigger than an airplane…but wait, it is an airplane.
It must be the new A380 Airbus. The A380 Airbus is the largest plane ever built.
