Here are some pics I shot a while back of the the B-52D on display @ Orlando International Airport (MCO).
The aircraft is on display in a small park next to what used to be the old terminal & is now the cargo terminal. The reason for it being there is because MCO used to be McCoy Air Force Base from the 1950's up untill the 1970's. The B-52 is a memorial to all the McCoy based crews lost over Vietnam. It's a must see if your in the area, I have been stoping by from time to time since I was a kid. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've seen this old bird quite a few times. She sure could use some TLC and a nice wash! I was there a few weeks ago after I dropped my dad off at MCO, and the landing gear wells were full of grafitti and hornets nests...what a mess! But it sure is nice to have this BUFF here in Orlando to preserve the USAF history at MCO.

Yeah she could use a little TLC, they seem to repaint her every few years, thats good.
They had to put screens up in the wheel wells to keep people from getting up into the aircraft & stealing parts, people kill me. ![]() None the less it's great the old Buff has remained all these years. As you said it helps keep the memory of McCoy AFB & all who served alive. |
