The sound of these old prop-jets just makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I fondly remember going to the airport when I was a kid & watching & listening to the Electras, Viscounts & F-27's. You could make a whole soundtrack of these old beauties & lay back & listen to them for hours.

Very unique aircraft. Was it preserved? Back in the mid-seventies, there was one parked at the FAA field at Atlantic City New Jersey. It was way out on the opposite side of the FAA office with a Convair 440 and one other airplane I cant seem to remember.
American Airlines freighter colors would look great on that bare metal finish.....hmmm. That gives me an idea....

Late reply - yes 56-1999 was flown to the Jimmy Doolittle Air & Space Museum at Travis Air Force Base. I think they're still working on it. The museum has an issue with accessibility since it is located on the base post 9/11.
