Air Canada - Tango
Press Release
SOURCE: Air Canada
Air Canada - Tango Offers Even Lower Prices for Web Bookings; Florida Flights Available Soon
MONTREAL, Oct. 11 /CNW/ - Tango by Air Canada, the airline's new low-fare service for cost-conscious travellers, accepted its first bookings today for flights starting November 1, 2001 between Toronto and seven Canadian major cities. Tango is rewarding customers who book tickets through http://www.flytango.com with an additional five dollar discount off the lowest available fare.
"First day interest in Tango has been overwhelming - there is clearly a demand in the market for this service," said Bill Bredt, Vice President, New Businesses, Air Canada and responsible for the Tango by Air Canada product. "There is particularly strong interest in Tango service to Florida destinations, which will be available for sale by the end of next week for flights before the end of the year." Tango flights within Canada are available now for travel starting November 1 up to April 6, 2002.
Customers are reminded that all Tango tickets are electronic and itinerary changes are available for a minimal fee. Tango tickets are non- refundable.
Two Airbus A320 aircraft are now in Air Canada mainline service sporting the distinctive Tango white and purple livery, including the Internet address at http://www.flytango.com "As A320 aircraft are converted to Tango colors, they will remain in Air Canada mainline service, with the mainline seat configuration, until Tango flights start on November 1. Not only does this maintain high aircraft utilization, it also helps raise customer awareness of Tango as a low-fare option for Air Canada's exceptional value and service," said Mr. Bredt.
Tango-liveried aircraft fly today between Toronto-Halifax (AC flights No. 192 and No. 615), Toronto-Ottawa (AC flights No. 462 and No. 467), Toronto- Montreal (AC flight No. 430), Toronto-Edmonton (AC flights No. 3953 and No. 3954) and again Toronto-Ottawa (AC flight No. 3472).

You can still find Tang in the supermarkets in the powdered drink aisle, though it's not as popular as it was back in the moon landing days about 30 years ago. Still tastes like it was made 30 years ago.
Boy... guess Air Canada isn't learning from the low-cost airlines south of the border! JethroJet and Scuttle by Untied just couldn't survive trying to bear Southwest at the low fare game.

TomatoJet
Actually MetroJet had a higher load factor than Southwest on a route to route comparison on the east coast. That's a fact, no joke. Southwest has a management team that are leaders and managers unlike US Airways.
I do like the colors of Tango a little better that Air Canada mailine. There's a little more color involved. I like the logo better as well.
I'd buy it if it came out in 1:400 scale.

I can just imagine the headlines if (or when) Tango goes bust:
TANGO GOES TANGO UNIFORM
(Tango Uniform - informal phonetic for '**** up'.)
TANGO HAS LAST DANCE
Any more ideas, guys?
