I by no means hate the DC-10. I for one like the DC-10 and have nothing against it. But there is a heated discussion going on in another thread.

Thanks for doing that. People need to do their homework and stop jumping to conclusions before posting. Everyone has their opinion, but the ones who designed and tested it, worked on the plane, flew, serviced, or rode on the type know how it works and they have their own opinion on the plane. Sure there were problems before but the plane still flew and maintenance improved. We learn from accidents and fix what needs to be done and the manufacturers work with the FAA and other aviation authorities to correct any problems that occur with the aircraft and its' parts.

There are other aircraft types that have had some awful accidents/mishaps/failures of parts but after certian decisions and actions by the government, airlines, and manufacturers, they are still safe to fly. As long as all of these groups are working in harmony and doing their job right, things will work out.

I still think that it's a safe plane and after several airlines After 300+ built and still flying around with airlines and cargo companies, they still are good for cargo and the MD-11 is a good fit too. Sad to see the two of them leave from passenger service. Just the charters and a few airlines overseas still use them.

I really like the DC-10, although not my favourite trijet (behind the L1011) the DC-10 is a great looking bird, and alot better looking than most of the new breed of airliners, ala 787 / A350.
yes it had some issues in its early years, but to still be flying today proves what a great airplane it is

I will soon be recieving a custom Delta DC10 on the inflight mould from ARD so really looking forward to adding her to my 1:200 collection

I agree .. the DC-10 had a very rough start but has been improved over the years to what is / was a very fine aircraft.

(Stupid DC-10 related story)
I remember sitting in class, the first day of the fall quarter, 1976 (?), Aeronautical Engineering 201 or such, the instructor suggested to the class that we avoid flying on DC-10s if we had the choice. (This was during or right after the problems with the cargo doors blowing out at altitude.) He talked about having "friends" that worked on the design of the plane admitting that parts of the design were "rushed."

It was quite a long time until I felt comfortable flying on a DC-10 ...

Last week I had the chance to meet a retired PIA captain who commanded just about every plane in PIA's fleet from the Super Connie to the Fokker F-27, Trident, 707, 720B, DC-10 and 747 and he compared the DC-10 to a Ferrari and the 747 to a Rolls Royce. He was very fond of the DC-10, it was his favorite a/c and he's even written a book about his years commanding all these a/c. For him the DC-10 was a girlfriend and the 747 a reliable wife.

Why are you asking me how I came up with this? Had you not bull$h1ted us about the DC-10 and then insulted and Mouthed off to other Members for correcting you, none of this would have happened. Actually, you didn't need to insult me, you insulted other members in a rather rude and annoying way, and I won't stand for that. Dylan likes to poke fun at Noobies, that is not causing trouble, it happened to all of us and we just keep cool. You have blamed multiple people for the fueling of this thread, who will you blame next (as I posted above, what you did to get the ball rolling). That's true, but I was only being rude towards Chubbyaznboy wasn't I? Not ANYONE else. NOT 1 other person. if YOU or other people wouldve kept cool as well this wouldnt have happened either. Well even though I've only see the DC-10 a couple of times in person, face to face, it really is a very beautiful and graceful plane!

Now were these two DC-10s not in flying condition when I saw them? They look pretty safe to me.
