TWA Historic Model Aircraft Now Available
American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum Offers Limited Edition of Aircraft In TWA's Transition Livery

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Airlines C. R. Smith Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, is now accepting pre-orders from the public for exclusive, limited-edition models of the first MD80 and 757 in the new TWA transition livery. American Airlines is now the parent company of TWA, and is in the process of integrating TWA into the American Airlines system.

The 1/400 scale die-cast metal airplanes are available as long as supplies last, only through the Museum' Store Web site at http://www.crsmithmuseum.org , or by calling toll free 1-877 CRSMITH (1-877-277-6484).

"These models are sure to instantly become a collector's item as they depict the look of this historic airline in its last days as a separate company," said Ben Kristy, Museum curator. "We're offering an exact replica of the historic TWA MD80 number N9615W, the first TWA aircraft to be converted to American's exclusive More Room Throughout Coach configuration and painted in the transitional livery. We're also offering a model of TWA's first 757 in the transitional livery, number N708TW."
American Airlines and TWA unveiled a new American Airlines-style livery for the TWA fleet when N9615W rolled out of the TWA maintenance hangar in Kansas City, MO, sporting a new Silver Bird look and a ``More Room'' coach interior.

The new look consists of buffed and polished aluminum, with a red, white, and blue waistline stripe running the length of the fuselage. This is identical to the existing American Airlines design scheme, or "livery". However, where the American aircraft sport the block "AA" logo on the tail and the American name on the fuselage, the TWA aircraft features a diagonally- positioned red block TWA logo on the tail and a TWA logo on the top half of the fuselage. Underneath the fuselage logo, inset in the white portion of the waistline stripe, are the words "an American Airlines company".

The Museum is offering just 1,000 models of the MD80, made by Dragon Wings, for $18.99 plus tax and shipping. Also, only 2,500 models of the first TWA 757 to be painted in the new livery, made by Gemini Jets, will be made. The 757 will be available for $25.95 plus tax and shipping. Each model comes in a distinctive commemorative box.

The C.R. Smith Museum is one of the few museums in the world dedicated solely to commercial aviation. The Museum opened in July 1993 and is dedicated to past and present American Airlines employees and C.R. Smith, longtime American Airlines president and aviation pioneer.
