Press conference with JetBlue CEO David Neeleman, JetBlue President Dave Barger, Long Beach Mayor Beverly O'Neill and local community to celebrate the opening of JetBlue's new base at Long Beach Airport and the departure of JetBlue's first flight from Long Beach to JFK, New York. JetBlue opens its Long Beach operations on August 29 with two daily nonstop flights to JFK/New York, adding a daily nonstop service to Dulles/Washington DC on October 8. The airline plans to add 25 more daily flights from Long Beach within next two years.

BACKGROUND:
JetBlue Airways began flying on February 11, 2000 and now operates 80 flights a day with a fleet of 16 brand new, environmentally-friendly Airbus A320 aircraft. All JetBlue aircraft are outfitted with roomy all-leather seats each equipped with DIRECTV, offering 24-channel satellite television at every seat. DIRECTV is available free of charge to all JetBlue passengers. JetBlue was voted No. 2 Best Domestic Airline for comfort and service in the 2001 Zagat Airline Survey and recently received top ranking (A grade) in an online survey by PlanetFeedback.com. Since launching operations 18 months ago, JetBlue has served three million passengers. The airline, the best-funded start-up in U.S. aviation history, takes delivery of an aircraft every five weeks on average.
