Very nice...I hope June 19th is the official date because I'll fly out there for that. It would be a good late bday present!

I think Airbus is NOT looking forward to the Dreamliner™ one bit, because of the apparent 'lack of interest', cancellations and deferrals of their prized WhaleJet™.
They realize that the next-generation midsize twin-engine market is where it's at, and that their A380 is merely a 'showpiece' of contemporary aeronautical engineering. It'll probably go down in the history books as the largest commercial airliner ever built, but in the sales category as a failure ... IMHO.

The LATEST article on the upcoming first flight of the Dreamliner 787 ... according to Jon Ostrower (a.k.a. Flightblogger) the first flight is "imminent" ... which I believe to be on the order of about 10 to 14 days.
Since today is the 12th ( my wife's B-day BTW ), that would put in sometime in the timeframe of the week of the 22nd through 26th.Personally I am rather confident of this based on all the research I have been doing, and BELIEVE ME, I have been doing a LOT!!! ![]() First 787 flight is imminent |

Is there anywhere that the official first flight date will be announced? Any way to get this information for certain?
That is an awesome video!

All of Boeings communications have been the 787 would make first flight in the second quarter of 2009. The second quarter of 2009 ends on June 30. If this does not happen, this will be a major embarrassment for Boeing. ![]() Any first flights after June 30, will officially fall under the third quarter of 2009. Based on this communication, I would say Boeing is starting to position another delay notice.

Wow, I had no idea Boeing Field is located in downtown Seattle! No wonder there's so much traffic congestion there.

Boeing Field is nowhere near downtown Seattle. It's about seven miles south of downtown. But I'm just trying to be nit-picky is all. lol

PAE (where the 787 will make its first flight) is where all Boeing widebody aircraft are manufactured.
BFI is where the first 200 or so 737s were produced before moving to RNT, all flight testing takes place, painting and delivery of 737s. Late 727s and 757s were also delivered from BFI. RNT is where the 707s, 727s, 737s and 757s were/are manufactured, along with some painting bays for 737s.

This time, it's for REAL Tupe ... they HAVE to get this plane off the ground by month's end for many reasons (stockholders and airline delivery scheduling) so it's down to T-minus 10 days and counting right now.
I'm gonna book a one-way ticket to Seattle in a few days when I hear more, and we're gonna be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn right at Paine Field, on the west side of the north-south runway there.
