Re: SQ sets benchmark again
Which aircraft has the best seat to sleep in?
The New Business Class
Our new Business Class is the most spacious the world has ever seen, with the largest seat and fully-flat bed in its class. These new cabin products are fitted on Singapore Airlines new A380, A340-500 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Click here to experience travel in a new light.
Business Class on A330-300
Unwind in our incline lie-flat seats, each exquisitely upholstered in premium leather. With adjustable seat presets, headrests and lumbar support, you will arrive at your destination feeling completely rejuvenated.
Business Class on Boeing 747-400 and 777-200ER
Beyond a simple business-class seat, the seat gives you unparalleled comfort, from multiple seating positions to a comfortable sleeping bed at an angle of 8 degrees. When the armrests are lowered, it also provides extra space to allow you more freedom to work, relax or sleep.
The seats are forward facing and fitted with adjustable screen dividers, which means improved privacy and personal space when working, relaxing, or sleeping. If you wish to work onboard, every seat has its own AC laptop power supply.

The new Business class on our A380, 777W and All business class a340-500 has the Best Business class product. Offering the largest bed in the skies for our fellow business class passengers. Winning awards from Skytrax and OAG as being "Best Business Class". Most airline offer this kind of seat and cabin layout as first class, but SQ has chosen to be different and continue to differentiate itself from its competitor as an innovator in the airline industry.

That is another benchmark in the airline industry. SIA was the first Commercial airline to operate an all business class aircraft under their name.

He's just a fanboy. If he worked for SQ, he probably wouldn't have spelled his name in tweeny-boy aLtErNaTiNg cApS. Singapore is a great airline, but the way these fan-boys shamelessly plug an airline they don't even work for (and probably have only flown once)....well, it's just pure Corky.
And all this biz-class stuff on airlines looks flashy until you see how real high-rollers travel:

Nah, SQ ground crew are contracted out at SFO. At best he is a counter boy....but since he has been plugging SQ since before he was 18, me thinks not!

Re: SQ sets benchmark again
Its a shame the seat design blocks almost an entire window (in the actual cabin shots). Being a window seat person, I like unobstructed views.
I can appreciate Singapores enthusiasm regarding his employers product. The A330 looks great.

Couldn't be worse than the herring bone design on other Business Class like AC and VS...your seat is at an incline

Actually, the seat was shot inside of an A380 Cabin (3rd and 4th photo). So on the a330-300, you will hopefully get the entire window. SIA has not release any full videos or cabin pix yet.

That explains why I couldn't get a price for Economy seating on their online reservations site for a SIN-EWR flight.

Im 18, turning 19 in 2 months (Ive been told i look alot older too lol). 4 of my fellow coworkers are 19 and i know this girl over at EVA whom is 18. She got the job because EVA needed alot of Vietnamese Translators. Also my major is Hospitality (Customer service) so i guess that played a major part in me getting the job. I guess i got really lucky.
The qualifications are as follow
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Pass an FAA required Drug Screening exam
- Verify 10 years of employment/school history
- Be fluent in English
- Be people-oriented, service minded
- Pass additional training and certification that may be required for some positions

I Think The Very First 4 (Or 6 I Can't Remember) Were Like That Before The 3 Class Layout Came In To Service, But If I'm Not Mistaken More Came Later With That Configuration. These Were Non ER Models.

You read my mind. I almost mentioned that too....even worse...Herringbone with front and backwards facing seats. Who -T-F thought of that garbage? BA and Lufthansa fly that configuration. The last thing I want to do for 9 or more hours in biz class, is to be face-to-face, within inches of another passenger behind a "privacy shade". I would rather sit directly next to some instead of flying "in the wrong direction" on the aisle. I hate the bean counting bastards with these "bright" ideas!

Too bad it's not working. SQ is cutting all J SIN-LAX/EWR service from 14x weekly to 10x in Feb. Accordingly to pax, many days the loads are only 30%. I wouldn't be surprised if the routes get axed entirely in the future, just like with TG.

I highly doubt that we will discontinue this route. SIA knows exactly what they are doing and it has not failed them for the past 60 years. Yes the loads are low right now due to the economic crises, but we are still able to attract the premium travelers in the market. SIA doesnt back out so easliy.

TG is also trying to get rid of some of their a340-500 but no one is buying them. So some of the planes are just sitting idle at savarnimbumi

Yes the loads are low right now due to the economic crises, but we are still able to attract the premium travelers in the market. SIA doesnt back out so easliy.

OK, now you're just being a fan boy. It's so hard to be profitable on ULH routes as is and there's just not that much US-SIN premium traffic. SQ needs a significant yield premium to make this route work and I don't think it's there. With the premium business crowd that they're trying to attract, reducing frequency from daily service is one of the worst things you can do.
So are the 345s just sitting grounded on those days? Are they still doing CGK? Seems like such a waste to have those very expensive aircraft just sitting there.

At this rate it'll be a long time before we see SQ A380s at LAX and SFO.

This is why SIA converted their a340-500 to an all business product. Before the economic downturn and recession in the U.S, the yields in the premium cabin was very high compared to Executive Economy. But given time and with Obama at the throne of our crippeling country, these birds will be flying Daily again. And no these a345 are not sitting on the ground like TG'S A345. Some are used on the Jarkarta run.

Nope with our crappy *** economy, the a380 wont be coming here for now. This is why SQ replaced SQ1/2 from the 747 to 777w instead of sending the a380.
