I thought I posted something here but it isn't showing up right now.

I think that if no museum would by the aircraft, it should be forced onto one free of charge. Tearing up a retro plane like that is vandalism!

In my opinion, that's the worst job! Tearing up beautiful airplanes! that's not very nice!

Demolition is only good when with old buildings and crappy cars (non valuble ones like old Ford Mondeos, Escorts etc

But it must happen, it's impossible to keep all the retired aircraft of the world.

Anyway, great video but sad end for this old bird.

That was a FULLY functional, FULLY maintained airworthy 720B. And I can guarantee that had the decided to sell in instead of scrap it, You could have gotten it for between $750,000.00 to $900,000.00 as a turn-key airplane. I really wish some rich aviation afficionado would have stepped in. Every time I watch it, it makes me ill.

I like the idea of using it as a home!

I wonder why they trashed a fully functional, airworthy 720B instead of selling it or taking it to the desert. Looks like the only things they salvaged were the engines. I'm with you on the living in an old airplane thing. I saw some pictures of a family living in an old DC-9 once, said it was better than a trailer since it was insulated to withstand the cold at 40,000 feet, and very tightly constructed. Best yet, they paid like $10,000 for the fuselage and another $4000 for the flatbed to transport it. Conversion cost them another $15,000, so they basically had a really nice cozy little home for less than $30,000. And a cool looking one, too.

I was very surprised that they scrapped that, it was the Honeywell engine test aircraft N720H last flight was on Dec 2007. In which they should had planned to do something about it or put it into a museum.
