Default More SXM Pics
The classic AFR A340, must be the most popular photo taken at SXM. Landing right behind him was the A320 from Guateloupe . The last shot of the A340 was taken from my hotel.

I dont think its the most popular.... The most popular should be with KLM airplanes.

they're based at martinica & guadaloupe, they also had 737s & ERJ-145s in their fleet

They Replaced Air France Antilles Which Were Based In Peurto Rico But Also Operated MIA-SXM-Martinique-Guadeloupe.
Are They Based In The French Islands Now?

That may have been the case in the past when KLM flew the 744 to SXM. Now they fly an MD-11 that only operates on Fri and Sun and doesn't arrive until 5:30 PM and is famous for running late. When I arrived on Fri the KLM came in just as I got to the hotel and I didn't have my camera, on Sun it didn't arrive until well after darks along with an ARKEFLY B763. The AFR A340 used to operate every Sat Sun Tues Thurs but now it operates every day arriving at 1PM and the A320 lands right behind it. Most of the arrivals are btwn 12 noon and 2:30, after that is pretty quiet,

Tuesday was the one day I decided to leave my camera locked away and just enjoy watching the landings, wouldn't you know that's when a CV-440 arrived at about 10AM. &*%$*@!&!!!!

Air France utilized these A320's and based them at said airports : Martinica & Guadaloupe, these works as the local feeders, serving their national interests within the Caribbean region.

Same thing Iberia did in MIA back in the old days.


There's some goodies about Iberia's minihub in MIA here.
