Default Sun N Fun 08 ~ Lakeland, Fl (Civilian Version)

Went to Sun N Fun today...and had a blast! Tons of aviation action going on everywhere you look! Sadly some of the action was tragic, as I witnessed my first plane crash.

But besides that, it was an awesome day and here's all the pics. These will be all the civilian aircraft I shot...military aircraft (Particularly the Thunderbirds are over in the Military Forum in that thread).

Don't know all the facts yet...all I've read and heard is that it was a light sport aircraft registered to a person or company in Wilmington, DE. It was pretty windy this morning and those little planes were having a good time trying to get in the air...very much possible they could've stalled it out right after departure. But I've read somewhere that other Pilots not involved in the accident are the most unreliable source for accident investigation, so don't quote me. lol.

Here's an article from the Orlando Sentinel.

Yeah but I think thats one of the new 172s they just got to replace the ones that got destroyed in the tornadoes like 2 Christmas' ago.

And what kills me...at the Riddle tent, one of the ladies was talking to a prospective student..and she was tellin him loads of BS like how ERAU in Daytona is 2 miles from the airport and that Riddle doesnt have the Diamond TwinStars yet. Even though there was a twinstar in ERAU colors on display across from the tent and I've seen them on the flight line at DAB. lol

I think that one was one of the left overs of the Christmas tornado in 05, I 496 was one of the ones with the Garmin G1000 Glass cockpit.

Well the airport is about 2 miles from the mall, probably less lol. But the university is right next door to DAB. The Twin Stars are fairly new. They weren't there when I left in March 07. I still flew the "Old" Seminoles. I can't believe that was a year ago already.

Maybe she ment 2 miles from the track? lol

I was there in October for a campus tour and there were about 3 or 4 twinstars sitting on the ramp.
