It's a METAR boys...basically what the weather is doing at JFK
JFK=location
08 is the day of the month
1851Z is the time 1:51 pm
16021g27kt= wind is from 160 gegrees at 21 knots gusting to 27 kts
0sm=visibility zero
-ra fg=rain and fog
vv001=vertical visability 100 feet
12/11=temprature 12c dewpoint 11c
2940=altimeter/barometric pressure

in othere words...its a sh1tty day.

Thanks Dylan, I was working and a lot of overseas flights were worried about their alternates, not very often do you have 0 vis with a 27kt breeze.....the point of this? apparently wasted.

That was the first thing that popped into my head when I read it. Fog and zero vis with 27 kt winds???

And what do you do for a living Steve? You a dispatcher? Next time I go to KTEB, lets have a beer.

Work for ARINC, handle all the comms for ATC over the North Atlantic, Carribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Previously a controller at NY center until my career was cut short in 1981.

59 degree temp with a south wind off the cold ocean and JFK located right on the water will do it.

Pop me PM next time your in the area. Overfly KTEB and land KISP.
