Default Vangaurd...

Just recently i had realized there was even such a thing as Vanguard Airlines. I know it was based in my home airport of MCI, but i dont know much about the airline. Did anyone fly Vanguard? What was its record?

The best thing about Vanguard was their livery. The best one i have seen to this date in my opinion:

I'm having problems viewing pics, so maybe it's just me who can't see the pics you posted?

It did not make a profit and they were supposed to get a loan after the 9/11 attacks but was denied and when Hooters Air wanted to buy the company Vanguard rejected the offer and they stopped flying. They had a big presence in Chicago at Midway.

I've heard of the airline but haven't actually seen their aircraft or flown on one.

I certainly miss seeing them around Chicago Midway! MDW to MCI was pretty much a 737-200 only route. I have some information and a timetable that I can dig up. I'll let you know what I find.

I flew Vanguard in 1994 or 1995 for $2.00....yep, $2.00. It was there first day in existance at SLC and at the time, flew SLC-DEN then the flight continued on to MCI. I was tipped off a few days before by a delta employee that on their first day or two, they were offering $2.00 each way SLC-DEN. Went out that mornig, stood in a fairly large line at the ticket counter (where frontier is today at SLC) flew to DEN had lunch walked aroundflew back 4 or 5 hours later. Best $4 bucks I ever spent!
