Default Today's Cool Shots#4 - Airlines And The Military

Since World II, commercial airlines have played a crucial roll in training military pilots and employing their aircraft in the transport of troops and cargo.

One of the coolest pictures I've seen is this Eastern Airlines photo from their 1967 Annual Report. Taken at Bien Hoa Airfield, South Vietnam, it focuses on two GIs engaged in a warm conversation with a stewardess while their M60 machine gun pierces the air.

In Movies About Vietnam You Can See The Likes Of United, Capitol, ONA & Just About Any Other US Airline That Had Stretch 8s. Uncle Sam Chartered A Lot Of Them. Of Course They Also Chartered Pan Am 707s Too. I Always Take Note In Such Movies.

During Vietnam, the Rest and Rehabilitation flights to Tokyo were precious to service personnel.

GIs guard a Pan Am 727 while awaiting R & R passengers to board.

The joy of R & R is evident on this DC-6B flight.
