Default What's an A200?

Found this awesome pic of GF A343 at LHR from airliners. Look at the markings on the tarmac and check out the left most group of markings that says, "B747 B777 A200". I was expecting to see "A346" or "A380" in that grouping.

My question is, what's an A200? Anyone here who is familiar with LHR? Thanks in advance!

p.s. You will need to click on the "Large" version to see the tarmac markings clearly.

..... An A200 is a camera. Perhaps that is where a photographer is supposed to stand while taking pictures on the tarmac.
..... On the other hand, whoever painted the markings did not use their spellcheck.

A200 is another Airbus variant that nobody seems to want to talk about...the red-headed stepchild?

Thank you for your insights, guys! BTW, if I have access to that spot on the tarmac, I wouldn't be using an A200.

Expand the picture, look at the stop line before the NLG...it's the first number at that line.

No, it's definitely for an A200...the spray-painted number in front is for an A340-500.

The forgotten Airbus, the A200. Here is a photo of it on it's first take off. As you can see and tailstrikes were quite common.
It wasn't a very hot seller due to this.

D-AIHC,

LOT 737-300 is correct. That is the A200 apron marking. If you will notice in the video, the A200 is set up for three short bursts prior to rotation. The same is true for taxing and coming to rest at the apron; three short bursts.

OK, OK...until someone else comes out with a better answer, I will settle for this - for now!

I guess it's one way to increase your post count.
Re A200: This is a paintmark on the ground only for guidance of marshallers and tugdrivers. Could it refer to the -200 version of the A330 as opposed to the -300 version which is the same length as the A340-300?
However, I would've thought that the A330-200 would've stopped short of its longer sisters position so as not to strike ground equipment/airbridges etc with its engines since they are closer to the nose than the others.
So I've just shotdown my own suggestion.
But it sure beats CO Freak's input on the subject

I looked up A200, and apparently there really is (or was) an A200 built by Airbus...or so several articles (and a few pics) suggest. I don't know why this aircraft doesn't seem to exist in the real world, unless they re-designated it. Come to think of it, the pic of it I saw looked very much like an A319.

That sounds like a good theory, but I always thought that a A319 would go to the same spot as a A320. Another interesting sidenote is though if you look right below the "A200" marking, you see what appears to be a spray painted "A340-5", Guess its a makeshift spot for a A340-500.

If anything, I'd expect to see a marking for A346 since it's more common at LHR than A345 (only EY operates there currently).
