Default ILFC (Steven Udvar-Hazy) to ORDER 50 Dreamliners at Paris Air Show!!!

Boeing's Dreamliner scores big order over Airbus A350

In what will be seen by many in the industry as a stinging rebuke for Airbus and its planned A350 jetliner, its biggest customer is expected to place an order for as many as 50 of The Boeing Co.'s 787 Dreamliners at next week's Paris Air Show, an industry source confirmed Tuesday night.

An order of that size would be worth about $10 billion at the 787's listed price, though important customers typically receive discounts of 20 to 30 percent or more.

Details of the likely order by International Lease Finance Corp., the world's biggest airplane leasing business, were first reported by the Wall Street Journal Tuesday night.

The industry source confirmed the Journal's account.

One final comment by Mr. Udvar-Hazy:

"We sent the first A350 to the cemetery, and many months later, Airbus still hasn't provided the kind of details that would make us rush to place an order."

OUCH!!!

This would be a very sweet deal for Boeing. Wow, that line about sending the A350 to the cemetery has got to sting. I thought I had said some bad things about AB, but this is a line from an industry leader.

I think the real sting is that ILFC planning to announce this deal at the Paris Air Show, the hometurf of EADS/Airbus.

Here's another article from the Seattle Times today regarding the upcoming order by Mr. Udvar-Hazy ...
The deal will ensure that International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC), the biggest airplane leasing company in the world, owns more Dreamliners than any other customer. The biggest previous 787 order from a single buyer was All Nippon Airways' 50-plane launch order in 2004.

ILFC founder and CEO Stephen Udvar-Hazy is likely to announce the order Tuesday.

For some reason, I don't think Mr. Udvar-Hazy is terribly fond of Airbus right now ...
