Default Boeing 747-XXX Featured in James Bond Casino Royale

One of the best James Bond movies in a long time is Casino Royale. It features a modified ex-Boeing 747-200 of British airways (G-BDXJ) that is being introduced as a new aircraft during the movie. Very exciting scene when it is being rolled out of the hangar. Check out the movie and pictures (without movie graphics) below.

Man, that was a great scene at MIA (I hear that it was shot in Prauge though, the CSA A310 might sorta give it away.) Actually, the whole film was great. I doubted Daniel Craig as the new Bond at first, but I think hes perfect for the role now.

Night shots were done at Dunsfold Park Airfield, England and Prague. Also, Sir Richard Branson (huge Bond fan) and his son landed cameo roles when he told the producer and director that he would provide a Virgin Atlantic plane in the Prague scene.

I totally agree. Casino Royale made me a believer in Bond again. This time, the production company left out the high-tech gadgets and visual effects that messed up some of the previous Bond movies. They brought the series back to the real world like the much older ones. Bourne Identity and Borune Supremacy were two awesome movies that told me the Bond series had gone too far with that fake stuff. I can now look forward to seeing Daniel Craig in his next two movies as 007.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but is this modified B747 really capable of flying?

No flight certification on this baby. Just done up nicely for the movies.

I like the engine pods (sort of a B-52-esque touch), but the outrigger wing tanks are a bit much. Is this 747 an airliner or a bomber? That would be pretty cool if it was a bomber, could you imagine the payload?

The engines and wing tanks were modeled after the B-47 Stratojet.

Actually, if you look close enough the new plane (Skysomethingoranother) is a CGI creation, plus you see the modified 747 in the background, wing pods, double engines and all. I believe the EAL 737 also gave away the non MIA location.

You must be talking about the movie itself, because the pictures posted don't show what you're talking about.

Correctamundo. Besides the obvious engine & wing tank configuration, the registration number, N9747P is one of two fictional Hollywood registrations used for this aircraft. The other is N88892.

No shiot! I saw that N88892 the other day, in a medi-vac helicopter in the TV series, "Smallville", and it was so prominent on the chopper, I thought of trying to look it up to see who it really belong to. Well, now I know!
