Default US New Paint Scheme Revealed

http://www.azcentral.com/business/ar...-newplane.html

"This is the planned color scheme that US Airways and America West are showing employees on a one-day preview today. The makeover on America West's fleet is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2006."

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/905570/M/

I like the new scheme. I just wish the lines in the back would show a bit more. I think it blends in too much with the white.

Better than the US current (former now, I suppose) and HP's 'Jurassic Park' liveries were separately. Overall...pretty good.

I really don't like it. I think the old US Airways scheme looked a lot better...

This, and the EMB 170s, are the last things they need. By the end of next year, they're gone...remember the holidays of last year and all the baggage screw-ups?

The current scheme is putrid so anything different is an improvement.

Lines are too similar to Ryanair for me. Something a little more original would have been better.

You may not be to far off for these. Look.:
http://www.americawest.com/awa/conte..._heritage.aspx

I think these are Sacrilegious. You for one loving PSA may think so. So do I of more then one. As for the new standard livery. I agree with Steve. It also has a look of Reno Air too at the nose. Both Ryan and Reno had that look. So it is in the west again. Still overall I think it is an improvement. Saw a similar one at: http://www.cardatabase.net/modifieda...hp?id=00005290

Sacreligious? Naah, at least US Airways is honouring the airlines they've merged with. I can't wait to see the PSA throwback bird!

I mean, you won't see American painting one of their 737s in the AirCal livery, or having a pair of MD-83s, one in TWA and the other in Reno Air livery...

The only reason I said sacrilegious is that for the people who became unemployed by US Air at the time of merger. Same can be said of AMR! Forgot a few in your American list. Trans Caribbean, and American Export Airlines. Would go the same in any merger. Western, Northeastern with Delta. And all of the ones Frank Lorenso took with Continental's merger and removing employees. I think differently of Retro birds for anniversary purposes. Yet these would be better then the schemes flying today anyway. Would be nice in a Multi Gemini pack. Also wondering where is the Mohawk out of all four of those retro ones! They forgot one.

I've heard rumors of the the "smile" returing, just didn't know how. These are real cool. As for the new C/S, looks ok, its not bad, but its not great, but hopefully all these liveries going to be flying around will make for some fun spotting opprotunities .
I would love to see these as scale models eventually, made in pretty good numbers, enough so there would be a good supply at least..

The scheme isn't bad...it just isn't good. Something generic about it...

The livery is nice. The throw back liveries will be really cool. I also really like the Legacy Circle, a nice idea.

I know that it might not go with the current scheme but the PSA smile (on all their airliners) might be a nice idea, a good way to try to erase the problems of the last couple years.

Times change and things evolve. Remember businesses are owned by the shareholder, not the worker (in most cases). The whole object is to gain as much value as possible for the share holders. In the 1980's this meant mergers and subsequently layoffs. Most of the airlines which were merged were in financial trouble in some form or another.

The classic example of this was Eastern. Eastern was in serious financial do-do. The time was ripe for Frank Lorenzo to buy the airline. Part of Eastern’s problem was the strength of the unions ie: cost factors and work regulations. The unions were unable to grasp the changing realities of the period; Deregulation was gone and it was sink or swim. Lorenzo was an ***, but the final strike that brought Eastern down did nothing to Lorenzo. In the end it just meant all workers lost their jobs.

Thumbs up the truth is

Its late and I'am tired and I don't care for the new 'scheme'. I think if they were going to do anything they should of come up with something altogether new and different. The scheme's I liked the most were the 'bare' metal triple red or the previous scheme with the solid blue tail red strip and the blue and red US AIR.......doesn't really matter now. I'am retired and the America West team will be running the airline now. The retro schemes is what I'am waiting to see.

Thumbs up

I like the new US Airways paint sceme.

Note that the heat in KPHX & KLAS was factor in the paint sceme.

Costs less to cool a white plane than a black one.
