Default Air Tran business class questions!

Hello!

First I was wondering if you can upgrade to business class at the gate if they have space. Also how much would it cost? Also what does air tran offer in business class that the main cabin doesnt have.

thanks

yes you can, its 35 dollars to upgrade if space is avail..

from Airtran's website:

All for just $35 over our very affordable full coach fare (Y class) or $70 on connecting flights ($50 per segment for Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, $85 for connecting flights for Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco).

Currently, as a special promotion, for the amounts listed above, upon checking in for travel, you may upgrade from any fare class on a first come, first served basis, if space in Business Class is available.

Upgraded last year from DFW-ATL and ATL-LGA.

As far as service it's more or less like any other domestic first class service which means more drinks but no food. Seats are more comfortable but depends on the interior. On the old interiors the seats aren't very comfortable, recline is limited, and I wouldn't pay to upgrade. On the new interiors, the recline is decent and I would definitely upgrade. For both width is a big plus if you're large, pregnant, or just need more room. Coach is the usual tight squeeze and very high load factors so don't count on an empty seat next to you.
