They should have kept it grey and blue, but used the new tal logo, but made the logo red and blue.

That paint SUCKS! It will raise painting costs and lower the looks by 200%! Not to mention the millions of dollars they spent to have some advertising company invent it! Yuck! Well at least the tails good...

Is this 777 one that is being resurrected from the dessert?

I do not like the colorless over blown logo on the tail. NW did it. Why did UA have to follow?

We will get used to it.

Remember no one liked the gray top either when it came out since it was such a departure form the typical.

Other than that it is really non descript and basic.

That light blue cheatline looks horrible! They should have kept the orange and red. The tail looks nice but they could have kept the orange as well. Overall, the current livery and previous one are a lot nicer!

Very nice. Though the cost involved isn't really necessary at this time in their business I imagine.

Now that I think of it, the new UAL livery reminds me of Air Austral.

I like it. Anything is better than that somber, depressing battleship gray. This is more like an update of all the previous schemes they've had since the late 1950s.

I like it different but something needs a make over. I did not like it the new colors when UA went from the good ol white birds to the dark gray. The now old colors grew on me and this scheme will grow on most give it time.

I like it. The previous livery was OK but too dark in my opinion.

The titles remind me of the '60's spear tail livery.

The titles then were in black block letters also with their shield logo before it.

Very similar.

Livery change is part of any restructuring. Usually, companies that go bankrupt feel that they have to reinvent themselves and livery change is a part of that. I agree with it from this standpoint. Yeah, sure, it could have been more creative...but I'd imagine that UAL wants to keep things simple while projecting a new "fresh" look to offset any associations of bad service people have made with them and their old livery. Livery is important. Its the first thing people think of when they think of an airline, and they associate that image, whether good or bad, with the perceived level of service that that airline offers. (Pan Am is an excellent example of the good and the bad part of this) It could have been more flashy, but that would risk alienating people who would be put off with it. I will always associate UAL's blue/gray with the booming late '90's travel market. I will associate this one with the "new" UAL. Overall, livery looks good in that it is suitable for their business plan.
