Hello to all,

I was wondering if any airline is looking for flight attendents these days. Only US airlines and not airlines like SWA but I would do Jetblue. Please help! thanks.

Legend... give Robert Crandall a call. I think he saved some openings for employees of his last assassinated airline.

BTW, what's wrong with Southwest other than flying 16 different flight segments a day?

Thumbs up

Unlike 'regular' airlines we at SWA are accepting on-line applications DAILY!

The applications may be accepted but there are no plans for a FA class in 2003 from what I understand. The last class (I think) #200 to graduate was in early 2002.

The good news - none have been furloughed or laid off.

Now, there is a little matter of contract negotiations in progress. BTW, the maximum number of flight segments (TOAL) per the current contract is 8 during any given duty period.

American has laid off almost 7,000 F/As, but American Eagle is hiring. I understand furloughed AA F/As are being hired first, though.

Southwest does fly to Texas and we all know it is "A Whole Other Country".

BTW, how many different (1) aircraft types (1) does JetBlue have (1) at present (1)? And those long international flights to... Canada?

My question would be - where can I get 3 to 4 day layovers in spots like Amarillo, Omaha or even Boise? I mean, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Singapore, ....

My wife was a flight attendant for Braniff (1974 - 82) and the last two years she was based in Boston and flying trips to Paris, Frankfurt, etc. with 5 day layovers! Talk about some fun times she had for sure.

2005... types will be 2... we have block trips of as long as 5:45 JFK-SEA/SAN, fly to San Juan as an intercontinental destination and we are growing, growing, growing! Expect Mexico, Canada and more of the Caribbean later!

It's called a seniority scale and you'll likely be climbing it for a while before you get in on international flights.

Perhaps that Continental / Aer Lingus merger will create some openings?

Trust me, as a flight attendant for 15 years, you don't want to be qualified on "many diff aircraft," if you have the choice. The more planes you're qualified on, the longer your recurrent training is every year.

I'm currently qualified on 5 aircraft types- MD-80, 757, 767, 777 and A300. I'm an international F/A because I speak French and Spanish, and I was qualified on the MD-80 during initial training, which doesn't fly international routes. I have never worked on this plane, but every year I have to study and be tested on MD-80 emergency procedures and equipment, plus do a mock evacuation of the plane. It's a waste of time. You're best off only being qualified on the aircraft used on the routes you bid for.

If you want to fly international from the start, it's best to have foreign language skills, since it's the most desirable flying and is senior. Our Rome trip, for example, requires a MINIMUM of 28 years seniority to hold it, unless of course, you speak Italian.

Aren't they more interested in filling openings, than creating them?

Probably about 40-50 of our JFK-based F/As speak Italian, enough to cover a daily operation and then some. Although there are about 1700 F/As based at JFK Int'l.

Does JetBlue have the eyesight minimum of 20/200 uncorrected? Also, "weight in proportion to height" -- what if the extra weight was due to extra time in the gym (not from being overweight)?

Southwest last week announced the formation of two flight attendant classes for CY 2003. The first will be filled from the class previously called but cancelled. The second will be filled from internal hiring and previous applicants.
