I'm going to be taking the SMF-LAX-BWI flight later this summer, and was wondering what they serve on the longer flights. I've heard they give out some type of snack package (i.e. something more substantial than peanuts). I was going to bring a sandwich, but I don't want to have to worry abt. refrigeration, so I'm wondering what else to bring.

You are going to get the same as on about any other carrier these days.
I flew Delta from ATL to PHL in first and got pretzels and a soda. Oh, but the soda was in a real glass! I would bring some other food that you think would get you by, we always do and the other passengers stare in envy because they did not think to do that themselves. Have fun Kevin! Kevin, The Lakers need to send Kobe to Portland where he can join up with The Jailblazers!

There used to be a picture of the snack box they serve on longer flights on Southwest's website. If you think you're going to be hungry, definitely pack something. And bring something to read, since there's no video programming.
Jeremy is right about not much food anymore on the transcons. At AA, we used to serve a meal and then a snack about an hour before landing. Now the second meals are gone, and the first meal is really tiny, and I hear United, Delta and Continental are doing the same. I think I'd bring something even on a flight with a meal nowadays. |
