Default What are these lines supposed to be?

I was just wondering, what are the lines sticking out above each door of an aircraft supposed to be? Do they do anything?
Here is a pic that clearly shows those lines above the doors. We can see them Dragon Wings models too (the grey lines).

maybe so rain water running down the side of the fuselage gets deflected away from the door? ive seen those same things on the light rail trains in San Jose.
