That's NASA's Moffett Federal Field, formerly known as NAS Moffett Field. No idea what the AN-124 was doing there, though.

AN-124's are a fairly common sight at Moffett, they are primarily chartered to haul space gear for private corporations and the government due to there capacity and relatively low price to charter.

Those are hangars that were used by the Navy during the war to house the blimps that patrolled the coast line.

yeah, i saw that An-124 as well; on Monday i was headed up 101 to SFO for a day of spotting. Moffett is no longer a Naval base sadly. it used to be a P-3 subchacer nerve center for the Pacific fleet; before that, it was a master jet base (NAS Lemoore took over those duties).
about the 3 hangars... Hangar 1: this is the big gray/white hangar this An-124 was parked in front of. it was built in 1933 for the USS Macon; a huge dirigible. Macon actually carried 3 little Sparrowhawk fighters on board, she was so big. USS Macon crashed off Monterey, CA in 1935 during a storm (the wreckage is still down there btw). Hangars 2 and 3: the lighter gray hangars side by side across the field from Hangar 1, these were built during WWII for housing ASW blimps; theyre made of concrete and redwood as steel was needed for other projects. lately, they housed the 129th ARS, but theyve since built their own and moved out of Hangar 3.
