Default Mayor Daley, you're an idiot!!!!!!!

I know this has already been brought up, but after reading about Meigs being closed in the "Debrief" section of the July issue of Airways magazine, I just want to say that Mayor Daley is an idiot!! Now I know why the Democrats use a jackass as their symbol!!

We hear you. The Canadian Owners & Pilots Assoc has written to support AOPA's opposition to the closing of Meigs. Here is an article from COPA's website, FYI:

COPA supports AOPA efforts in decrying Mayor Daley's actions
By Adam Hunt
COPA and its members were appalled by the actions of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley when he ordered the general aviation airport at Meigs Field destroyed under cover of darkness on the night of March 30th.
Letters of outrage from COPA members have been pouring in. COPA President and CEO, Kevin Psutka has sent a letter of protest to Mayor Daley urging him to cease further destruction of the airport and to allow the airport to be repaired and reopened. The letter also supports AOPA’s position and work on this issue. To read COPA's letter see below.
For more information on what is happening in the situation at Meigs Field have a look at www.friendsofmeigs.org and also www.aopa.org. Express your own thoughts about the destruction at Meigs by writing to Mayor Richard Daley directly at mayordaley@cityofchicago.org.

April 4, 2003
Mayor Richard M. Daley
City of Chicago
121 N. La Salle Street
Chicago IL 60602
USA

Dear Mayor Daley:
I am writing to you on behalf of the 17,000 members of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA). COPA represents the majority of pilots who fly for personal reasons in Canada.
COPA and its members wish to express our outrage and anger and the wanton destruction of Meigs Field on the night of March 30th, 2003. We are outraged that you have ignored the basic principles of consultation and democracy as well as the agreements you had signed with Governor Ryan in December 2001 agreeing to keep the airport open until at least 2026. We are appalled that all of the good work of your law-abiding citizens could be ignored in this manner.
We have received many letters and e-mails from our members expressing their shock and dismay at the bizarre action that you have taken. They have also clearly said that your stated reasons for destroying the airport in the name of “homeland security” are ridiculous and transparently self-serving.
I strongly urge you to take no further steps to damage this vital transportation resource and to allow those who are committed to do so to return it to serving the people of Chicago.
COPA will provide whatever support we can to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association to reverse this ill-considered destructive act and restore this airport to the service of the people of Chicago who built it and paid for it.

Yours truly,
Kevin Psutka
President and Chief Executive Officer

CC: Governor Rod Blagojevich
Phil Boyer, President AOPA

With an attitude like that ( you are entitled to yours ) you will have no reason or right to complain!

I am totally amazed that something like the destruction of Meigs field, under such clandestine circumstances, and the direction of the Mayor could even occur. And what a total disregard and lack of consideration for the people that had aircraft at the field that were, in an instant, stranded.

This warped individual does not deserve a vote for the City Dog Catcher, but I would take the time to at least "cast" my vote!

As a pilot and as an AOPA member since 1984,believe me i DO have the right to complain. just because i dont vote doesn't means that i have no right to complain.

Exclamation

I suggest going to Avweb and signing their petition to keep Meigs open. It might not do any good, but at least you can add your voice to those who are telling Mayor Dickhead he's made a greivous error in his clandestine attack on Meigs Field:

Hernan,

I stand corrected, Sir.

A member of AOPA for nearly twenty years and a pilot too! Indeed, you are uniquely qualified to complain. Please feel free to continue at your liesure as I am sure that I had temporarily taken leave of my senses.

Regards,

Don

If I'm not mistaken sometime last week a judge gave the go ahead for Daley to finish what he started on the 30th of March.
