That's right! Air Tahiti Nui has a new competitor in French Polynesia and her name is Air Bourbon! I seriously doubt that there is that much traffic there to justify two carriers but you never know.
Ironicly, the new airline intends to inauguate service using the same Airbus A340 (F-OITN/Bora Bora) that Air Tahiti Nui used to use a while back!! One things for sure, the ATN colorscheme is a heck of a lot better than that of Air Bourbon!

The front half of the plane looks quite nice. I like the stylized bird. They just need to add more colour. I like the name of the airline, though!

Just to clarify - Air Bourbon is based at La Réunion island which is east of Madagascar, Africa (Bourbon AFAIK was the former name of Réunion).
Air Tahiti Nui is from French Polynesia in the Southern Pacific. Two slightly different spots! Air Bourbon is actually competing with Air Austral who just got 2 777s for services from Réunion to Paris (I think they are going to CDG while Air Bourbon will fly to Orly).

Thanks for the clarification VCE, my mistake..didn't really research it before I posted this. I was just going on what was in the caption of the picture above. It really didn't seem like there would be another airline in French Polynesia. Though its still interesting to know that its one of ATNs older A340-200s!
