Default Help with DIA

My buddy and I are planning to go to Dallas for two days probably next month. We want to do some spotting while we're there. Any good spots that we can go to without getting in trouble?

You mean Dallas-Fort Worth and Love Field, right?

There is a designated spotting area at DFW airport called Founder's Plaza; if the winds are right and aircraft are using 35L and 35C, you get good landing shots -- the prevailing wind is such that most times aircraft are using 17C and 17R. Any other place to spot is not recommended as it is heavily patrolled by DFW's Finest. Don't try and spot near the overhead crossings either.

For Dallas Love (mostly Southwest, though you might find the occasional Continental Express or American Eagle jungle jet), there is Bachman Lake Park on the approach to Runways 12L and 12R. Parking is minimal in that area and the neighborhood surrounding the park ain't the greatest, especially at night. No good spotting opportunities in the direction of 31L and 31R; the area surrounding the approaches is mostly industrial.

Shoot me a PM when you're coming down... we can probably rustle up the Doc and a couple of more on short notice. If you're willing to wait until April, we've got a big pre-show party on the Friday night before Saturday's DFW Airliners show. (April 11-12). Go to www.airlinebuzz.com for more details...
