Question Ever refused to board a flight?

Has anybody here ever decided to abandon their plans after seeing the condition of the aircraft or based on the reputation of an airline? Either turning up at the airport and doing a u-turn or refusing to accept a reservation?

Never done that, but I guess if I would really be afraid from what I see when I'm about to board the plane, I would refuse to board.
Then again, I've seen some planes that looked like they were in pretty bad state, and they all made the trip, without any problems. So appearance isn't everything, I guess

Nope , havent had this feeling before . The only bird that i hate flying is the 737 classics . Give me an MD-80 or A320 over the 737 anyday .

Maybe I'm the only one whose been in this predicament then There are a few times I've been very close to refusing to fly (with Libyan Arab, Air Afrique mainly) but in the end I've always flown, basically as I would be fired if I refused.

Post Refusing to leave

Once.
I was being deported (for the 9th time in 2-1/2 years from the USA) I told the inmigration dudes that I had left the iron "on" in my apartament. They wouldn't give a dam...could you believe it?

Seriously, Once in Chile when I was a kid (five years old) I had a chance to fly on a DC-3 on an Air Show. I was afraid that it would fall just like in the movies.
Eventually, I flew on a scheduled commercial flight between Lago Agrio and UIO.

There have been flights I wish I could have walked off before departure, but unfortunately I'm a flight attendant & I have to go!
It's never been due to safety- just unruly passengers who shouldn't have been allowed on board in the 1st place.

I do have a friend who walked off a flight he was supposed to work aboard as a purser, & he took his cabin crew with him! The agents boarded a man who was violently drunk to get him out of their hands. Then the flight attendants collected their crew bags & walked off a full A300 bound for MIA from JFK, telling the agents it was either him or them, not both. The flight canceled- my friend got in trouble but when he threatened to tell the FAA about boarding an intoxicated passenger (it's an $11,000 fine) they backed down & shut up!

I worked for Delta Airlines in Chicago back in '85 and '86. We ground handled many international carriers including Mexicana. After seeing somethings I saw and how the people from Mexicana ran the show at ORD I would of never flown on any of their planes back than.
I would hope after all these years things have improved a bit(I hope).
