Question JAL or Qantas?

Can somebody explain the picture?
I know that it was taken at HK Kaitak, but don't know the detail.

Wink

Qantas love JAL so much that they decide to pay JAL to paint the name on the airline ?

Seriously , I have no idea too . Anyone knows ?

I don't know exactly what the story behind this scheme is, but I'm taking a guess that Qantas leased this plane from JAL for a short time and just left it in a transitonal scheme.

Like this BA QF hybrid which was recently released by Bigbird:

That is a 744D . I dont think jAL leased that plane to QF . Most probably its a codeshare with QF on certain routes .

Cool

I would say JAL leased the plane from Qantas, it has rolls royce engines which makes it a Qantas plane, not a JAL.

Unhappy Sad...

Poor plane must be suffering from an identity crisis... It would make a neat model though...

You guys have it all backwards. If you look closely you'll see that those are RR engines, making it a 747-300. That makes it a QANTAS bird that was leased to JAL.

Thanks for the info guys~! I guess JAL did leased from Qantas for
some reason, but it's strange that JAL is a company with so many
747s leased an aircraft from other company...
