Hey there, I appreciate the update to my posting from last year/November 2016:

Sorry to hear that UA has moved up the timetable for the retirement of their B747-400s

Cheers! T7

I'm saddened to see the hastening by United to retire their 747s. (Not that I ever fly United, mind you.) But we'll continue seeing the 747 in the skies for quite sometime. I was hoping to fly a Virgin Atlantic 747 in May, but it seems they only use the 787 to/from the West Coast of the U.S.

Most football teams get 757s and 767s at best. Last week for the Nebraska game, I took a handoff out of Nashville...a United 747 to Lincoln. That's pretty baller to have a 747 chartered.

Now that's pretty sweet to charter the 'Queen of the Skies' for a College football game. Looks like the C-5 Galaxy and E-4 are regular customers of that airport.

Yep, we have to thank Lufthansa, Air China, and Korean Air for acquiring the B747-8 for their customers/passengers. Hopefully, other airlines will order the B747-8 in the future? Cheers! T7

Sad to see a Boeing jumbo jet era is ending in the US. I got my very first upgrade to Business class on a UA 747 from SFO to NRT to MNL many many moons ago. I was ecstatic when I found out that I will be seated on the upper deck on the very first row window seat portside. I have flown on the UA 747 many times over the years and will again fly on a UA 747 to Taipeh this February. So looking forward to this.
