Unhappy Final TWA Livery Flight Today! Did anyone else know this?

It is my understanding that the very last TWA livery aircraft revenue flight occured earlier today. It was a Boeing 767-300 from NYC-STL and apparently landed around 4:50pm late this afternoon in STL. With all of the layoffs, a good portion of the TWA family no longer works for AA. STL is the last holdout with any size pool of former TWA workers.

Best of luck to all TW/AA workers in these trying times!

Missing from the skies but forever in our hearts, you have joined the family of sleeping giants, Pan Am, Canadi>n, Ansett, EA just to name a few whose footprints have shaped the greatest industry the world has ever known.
Gone but not forgotten!

Actually, I was surprised at the number of TWA aircraft still in TWA colors when I went through STL last weekend, I saw two 767-300's, a few MD-80's and one 767-300 still in the twin stripe!!!

Smile

A fond farewell to one of the "old guard" flag carriers. I saw a TWA twinstripe 763 in LAX a few weeks ago; Sentinal Chicken was kind enough to post some data.

Thumbs up

Needless to say, we are lacking a few TWA releases, namely:
727-100 and -200 in twin globe, twin stripe, and final liverys, L-1011 twin globe, MD-80 series, and CV-880. Aeroclassics will undoubtedly rectify the latter, but c'mon Gemini and Dragon - you've got the moulds.
