Default First 717 with no 'Eyebrow' Windows!

Hi Guys,

Well, it's a done deal! The first 717 (aka MD95) has been delivered to AirTran with the new cockpit window config.

That gives DW two new options: a model with, and a 'special' without.....

LMAO, ok... lets do reg # changes as well and offer 2 different metal finishes! Oh, don't forget making each one a seperate release with matching GSE! There you go... 16+ different releases based on one model!

Boeing is moving in the same direction with the B737. Reduces production and Maint. costs!

Err.. no bare metal on Air Tran - unless we do what GJ did to Air 2000's 757 and release a set with bare metal instead of cream!!

Now we're up to 32 and counting!!

Thanks for the link. Those eyebrow windows are there for the purpose of keeping the runway environment in sight during circling approaches, guess Boeing figures they aren’t done much anymore. Still I know a lot of balding pilots that will be happy, that will reduce sunburn.

How important or profitable is this aircraft for the Boeing Company
line of aircrafts?

Boeing projects 3000 orders in this segment ... seems like they have been persuing it more and more lately.

Here ia a good article on the subject

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/busine...88_air24.shtml

I think it is interestng the two different routes that Northwest and Airtran are taking ... Northwest continues to operate it's DC-9's while AirTran moves to the B717 ... Airtran is claiming a 29% improvement in profit per seat mile v. the DC-9
