Default Who is the new star alliance member going to be???

I think if US AIRWAYS and UNITED code share, its
a good chance that US AIRWAYS could be a member.
What do you think??

Default But first,

Before that happens I've read that Asiana Airlines will confirm sometime this month that they will be joining the Star Alliance.

This information is from the July issue of AirlinerWord.

I dont think they should add another airline.I think they should just give up to oneworld and realize oneworld is better, and they will never match up.

I would personally love to see Aeroflot join up. I use aeroflot a few times a year and would love to be ablet to get my Air New Zealand Air Points from my flights with them.

It is surely only a matter of time before they join an alliance in a big way (and would't it be great to see their livery along with the other Star members on the side of ONE plane!).

Really though, I would imagine Trevor to be right. I think that it could be Alaska.

I was speaking to a member of staff with AS about flights SEA-YVR and this guy was one of the major sale men in the UK for the airline (my sales manager) and he said to me that 'if you do fly an AS fligth number after October you may be flying on a UA aircraft' but I don't think he meant to.

PErhaps just a simple code-share, perhaps something more.

Virgin Blue

Since the demise of Ansett Austrailia and the scale back at Air New Zealand, the Star Alliance has lost a great deal of representation in the Austrailian market. Virgin Blue recently began code sharing United flights, on top of already code sharing Singapore Airlines flight. There is talk of expansion to southern Asian markets and Star Alliance membership within the company. As for Alaska Airlines, probably not, their are already three North American airlines, two of which operate heavily in the Western portion of the continent. I believe code sharing Alaska and United flights is very much possible still, as UA code shares on Horizon flights already.

I didn't know that! I knew that Alaska and American code share on quite a few flights east-bound already. They seem to be code sharing on "both sides of the fence"

I agree with Andrew on these future "moves". Aeroflot is serviced by DL in several US Cities, and utilizes her gates / terminals also in some locations. Asiana and United have also had a relationship for quite some time and since rival KAL is Skyteam, it makes alot of sence.

Since the merge between AA and US Air went down the tubes, I have noticed that relationship has been less friendly ecpecially in the US hub cities of PHL and PIT.
Although the One World alliance is alive and well, I think US Air might consider Star since United could be good for both in codeshare, although BA also has it's aquisition eyes on US Air and they are One World.

U.S. Airways is likely to be a code-share member. Whether that entails Star Alliance membership is unknown. There IS a difference. Possibly Air China, Virgin Blue, and LOT Polish.
Regardless, you'll soon see a resurgent and vibrant UAL repositioning itself competitively with improved customer service.
About time!!

John McLaughlin sez - The Correct Answer is: Swiss Air Lines

I tell you, I have flown over 500K miles in the last few years and all these alliances have done nothing for me. If you ask me, I think they are BS and deceptive to the public. An Air France Flight should be an Air France flight, not a Delta flight. When I buy a ticket to Frankfurt on United Airlines, I better be sitting in first class on an American built 777-200 and not on a Lufthansa Scarebus A340.

Are any airlines of the Indian subcontinent in any alliances? I know that they codeshare, but I don't think they are involved in any alliances. I wouldn't be too suprised to maybe see an airline like Air India join soon. If the alliances are looking in the long run, India can't be ignored too much longer since it will become larger than China in population in twenty hears or so.
