They WILL get the loan, but, become strong? they'll survive like they always have, but become strong in my mind means becoming a big int. player, which, while they have a huge portion of the US domestic market, is not in the near future for USAirways.

I think US Air will be fine... They sure will get loan and get better.
I know they had some financial trouble few years ago, but they changed livery and decided to renew their fleet with all-buses and business went up. I don't know how, but they will make it!

They won't get the full loan they're hoping for. They will end up cutting back fairly significantly and selling part of their assets. This will make them more susceptible for a takeover. However, if a merger doesn't happen in time, they'll declare bankruptcy, and will be purchased piece-meal. (Hmmm, now what other airline is heavily invested into Airbus equipment and wouldn't have significant route overlap?-- think about it!)

They'll get the loans they ask for, but they won't get the level of concessions they want, so they'll declare Chapter 11 and reorganize. They'll reduce the scale of their operations, introduce a large amount of RJ flying, and then they'll focus on East Coast and Caribbean flying.

I truly hope everything works out for the employees at U.
