Bin Laden picture found on plane
Delayed a Dallas departure, passengers rescreened April 18, 2002 Posted: 2:15 PM EDT (1815 GMT) McALLEN, Texas (AP) -- Federal officials are trying to figure out who taped a picture of Osama bin Laden inside an overhead bin on an airliner, delaying a flight and prompting a search of the terminal. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is investigating Saturday's incident, which stalled the departure of American Airlines Flight 312 to Dallas and resulted in a search of the McAllen-Miller International Airport terminal, spokesman John Clabes said. Clabes said the plane was preparing for takeoff when the photo was found. Passengers were ordered off the plane and the terminal was closed while officials searched and rescreened passengers. "They didn't find anything," Clabes told The Monitor of McAllen for Thursday's editions. An airport supervisor told McAllen police that the blue tape used to hang the picture of bin Laden is used by a crew that cleans the plane's carpet.

Hey, now THERE is an idea. Maybe those box-cutters and knives didn't go through security in the first place. MAYBE they had inside help. I never would have thought of that...
Oh...you want me to take off my shoes and pull my $4000 laptop out of it's bag for the X-ray? I feel much safer now. ![]() |
