Default Australian Airlines new colours

Just seen that the website for the new Australian Airlines is up and running and shows their livery. Pretty nice twist on the Qantas and Wunala scheme.

Question my taste if you will, but that is one of the nicest new colors I have seen for ages. Big thumbs up from the dancing cat too.

Interesting livery. The fuselage looks like a cross between Avianca and QANTAS. The tail looks like the QANTAS kangaroo went out on the town for a drinking binge and had too much of the Doc's shine. I like it.

I'm sure DW will rush to make this one.

Default What about the funky roo?

Can they get that special bubbly dot effect on the plane too? Looks drunk if you ask me.

Qantas Low-Cost Airline Set To Launch In Oct

After months of deliberations over Australian Airlines, Qantas' board finally signed off on the new carrier Tuesday.

Australian Airlines, which was approved after Qantas management secured a low- cost structure for the operation following an agreement with labor unions on wages and work practices, will commence operations Oct. 27 with four Boeing 767- 300 aircraft.

The airline will gradually expand to a fleet of 12 Boeing 767-300s.

Credit Suisse First Boston transport analyst Greg Ward said in a research note to clients that Australian Airlines' labor and services costs will be 25% to 30% lower than Qantas'.

Initially the airline will phase in routes linking Cairns in Queensland to Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya in Japan , as well as Singapore , Taipei and Hong Kong .

"Offering new, low-cost services into untapped markets such as Japan and Taiwan should offer attractive growth" for Australia 's flying kangaroo, CSFB's Ward said.

Ward has a Buy recommendation on Qantas and 12-month target price of A$4.97.

The second phase of the airline's launch will focus on the outbound market from Australia early next year.

Australian Airlines won't be competing with Qantas since it will operate on routes from which Qantas has either withdrawn or where it hasn't been able to extract a satisfactory return, Dixon said Tuesday.

The airline, which will be headed by Denis Adams, will be based in Sydney and is expected to eventually fly to every Australian mainland capital, including Perth and Darwin.

I like this livery, just wondering when the Australian aboriginies will claim copyright infringement on this one, just like they pulled with the QANTAS kangaroo.

If it's a low cost airline, are you aware if there are any business or first class type seats. The flight from Australia to Taiwan has got to be a good 8 hours or so...could you imagine riding an 8 flight on a Southwest seat??

It says there will only be one class of service on their website.

Thumbs up GREAT!

I LOVE this scheme! It's alot like what I was thinking of proposing for a new QANTAS livery... only in red...

It's simple, it flows it has a connection to it's country of origin and is fresh!

LOVE the orange! LOVE the 'roo! LOVE the wavy belly demarcation. The only thing I'd add is orange to the tops of the engine nacelles.

I had to requote myself here! To state how or why QANTAS fully absorbed Australian Airlines before and not use the name until now!

Prior to that they were known as Trans Australian Airlines!
See the orange colors in the old TAA scheme and the Kangaroo in the Australian. Attributes almost similar to the originator for which the new one must be somewhat based from! Go back in branding and pickup where the last left off. Seems logical to me!

Here is a picture of Australian Airlines prior to merger with QANTAS!

All photo images Airliners.Net.
To many this must be like the American Airlines/TWA thing!
