San Jose put there new runway 30R into full use today when they closed 30L to resurface it. One problem is the is no ILS for the runway and this mourning guess what. The fog rolled in and caused some delays because 30R only has a DME VOR approach. Its pretty cool watching American 757s dive for the runway. The only good thing is the planes touchdown right in front of where I work making a great view.

I'll be down there tomorrow, Bill, for some "noon balloon" spaten. Being that it'll be a Friday, hopefully there'll be lotsa action, both commercial and business.
I read that article yesterday in the Mercury about the closure of SJC. I was surprised to read that some flights were diverted to SMF and OAK. Hell, the aerodrome was only closed for an hour. I went to PHX a cuppla weeks back on American Eagle out of SJC and was surprised that we departed off the left side. We were number one for take-off as there was no other departing traffic ahead of us but nonetheless we rolled down 30L. I'm still trying to figure out why ATC put us on the left side instead of the right. It wasn't like we were a widebodied aircraft or anything, hell we were a tiny EMB 140. -kai- |
