Don't think I've seen this posted here.

Quite a takeoff!

Awesome!

That is wild!

I saw a learjet do this at the Airliner Show in MIA (AI2002).

It was quite a site to this Learjet take up the whole runway and then go completely vertical!

I wish I was a passenger on that A320!

Impressive takeoff. Looks like the pilot held it level just above the runway to build up the speed necessary to make that steep turning climb. I've heard of GA pilots in twins doing this sort of thing, taking off but holding it in ground effect while the gear retracts and then rocketing up to the departure altitude when they near the threshold.

Kinda like doing a soft-field takeoff in a Chickenhawk 172, hold in ground effect to build up speed. But that's a sedate ride compared to doing it with some serious jet thrust!

So did he switch off the flight control computers and fly it under "natural laws"?

I remember doing just that in a 172 when I was going to ERAU. The softfield takeoffs and landings were always my favorite. I got to the point where all my landings I did in softfield style. Even without jet thrust, holding a plane in ground effect can make a wild ride

Yea tell me about it. You could never get tired of doing soft field takeoffs, regardless of what type of plane your in.

Yikes! I'm never going to fly this airline... that kind of take-off would spill my drink.

I think that departure was a result of the Captain spilling the extra hot mocha, that he was holding between his legs, kudos go to the F/O for getting the gear up on schedule.
F/O; V1.
F/O; rotate.
Cpt; shit! I think I spilled something.
F/O; gear?
Cpt; oh yeah,(pause) I dropped the lid on this coffee.
Cpt; I think I can reach it.
F/O; watch your attitude Captain.
Cpt; YYYEEEEEHHHHAAAAAAA!!!!! THAT'S HOT!!!!

I would!!! If he takes off like he is on a aircraft carrier, I wonder if he'll land that way?

How is that possible? A319 does not equal F14

a funny thing, my uncle's best friend was a navy f-14 pilot and when he left the navy he got on with UPS. Well on his check out on UPS, he was so used to slamming down the f-14s on the carriers he kinda had trouble not doing the same as he landed the 757s.

but i guess the packages in the back would complain....
