UAL Corp., parent of United Airlines, gave James Goodwin $5.4 million -- three times his salary and bonus -- to go away last year. But his pay for 10 months of work was 23 percent higher than the money he made in all of 2000.
Man how can I get a job like that. Ruin a company and then get paid to leave. How come the regular hard working Joe gets fired with no severance and these fat cat loser CEO types that do nothing but spend other peolpes money get these nice packages when the should get fired instead? |

We at United have a saying when it comes to bull**** like this.
Its called the "United Way". This kind of crap has been going on at United for many years. It always seems like the ones(upper mgt) that **** up the company the most are the ones who leave with lots of cash and other perks to boot. The others who do the real work at the bottom of the ladder are always the ones who get it up the *** at the end. Our esop shares are worth almost nothing and we're making the same wages from eight years ago. Upper mgt. made all these promises when the esop started and now that its over the promises are quickly forgotten. While the pilots had the world handed to them on a silver pladder a couple years ago United was loosing almost all of their mail contracts from the post office. If you read the paper you will know that Fed-Ex sign a multi billion dollar deal with the post office to move mail for many years. Over the fifteen years I've been at United we were always told that our number one customer($$$) was the US post office. I guess the pilots never knew this. This my friends is what we call the "UNITED WAY" Scott Last edited by UALsprtofSEA2; 03-30-2002 at 03:04 AM. |
