Air Canada's regional carrier announces new brand

HALIFAX, March 27 /PRNewswire/ - Air Canada's regional carrier, operating as AirBC, Air Nova, Air Ontario and Canadian Regional, marked the completin of their two-year consolidation process with the introduction of its new brand name and look.

At a news conference today in Toroto, Air Canada Jazz was announced as the new brand name for the regional airline. The new name, logo, website and aircraft livery signifies a new beginning for the newly merged regional airlines.

"Our objective in creating our new brand was to build on the strengths of the four existing brands of AirBC, Air Ontario, Air Nova and Canadian Regional Airlines", said Joseph D. Randell, President of Air Canada Jazz. "Each of these carriers had strong brand awareness within their regions, and the new name reflects these qualities and acts as a metaphor for being youthful, vibrant, innovative, flexible and part of the local community."

Air Canada Jazz provides close to 800 flights each business day to 80 destinations in Canada and the United States utilizing a fleet of Fokker F28s, British Aerospace 146s, Bombardier CRJs (beginning in May), Dash 8 100/300s and Beech 1900Ds.

Mr. Randell stated, "we bring more friends, more families, more businesses and more communities together than any other airline in Canada. As one of the world's largest regional carriers, and as the second largest carrier in Canada - we are proud to serve our customers. Air Canada Jazz is a great name, and a great airline deserves a great name."

The rollout of the new brand will be conducted over a period of several months. Customers will begin to see the new aircraft livery, new airport signage, advertisements and a new website. (www.flyjazz.ca). The longer-term brand strategy will involve the enhancement of the aircraft interiors.

For additional information on Air Canada Jazz and to view the new logo and aircraft livery, consult the website www.flyjazz.ca.

Talking This is like a musical show Air Canada is putting on!

First it is the Tango ,
then the Jazz,Jazz,Jazz,Jazz! What next Air Canada Classical & Country also Rock & Roll flying Otters?

Great color reminiscent of Aspen Airways, Braniff, CourtLine, Mexicana and others! Even the blues of JetBlue. Wait Blues & Jazz! Lets here BB King the big band music of Glenn Miller.
Aspen Airways fleet of seasons!

Winter

Spring

Summer

Fall

Aspen Airways photos circa 1980's

Same goes for the idea for the Air Canada Jazz thing! I think.

Arrow Yep, history repeats it self but in other places!

Instead of aspen leafs we have maple leafs. I wouldn't mind if these all of leaves fell on to my airport!

People who would want the whole fleet of these would say Great! But others would say, "I am all Jazzed out!".

Thumbs up FINALLY a NICE white livery!

THESE are very cool! I like the supergraphic style! I've always been a sucker for fleets with different colored planes, and this is no exception... The AC maple leaf looks SO much better as it's presented here than on their green/black tails.

It just goes to show that an all white livery, done right, STILL has impact!

Default Aspen

One of my most memorable flights was on a Aspen Airways Convair 580. Very cool airplane. I also had the good fortune to ride on a Metro Airlines dba American Eagle CV580 from Springfield, Mo to DFW. I think this was in 1985. Gotta love those freebie passes.

Arrow Gordon, sounds it will be random!

According to the website! It is a United Express, American Eagle or Northwest Airlink types. But these will go under one name and should not be distinguishable by former fleets!
