Question Since when did the B747-400D become an out of production model?

I always thought all variants of the Boeing 747-400 (Regular, freighter, combi, domestic) were still in production. If you scroll to the bottom of the -400 "background" page , they still are! However, in the Technical Specs section of the 747 pages, the -400D is listed as an out-of-production model! What gives? I mean, I know the -400D has only been bought by Japanese airlines, and recently there haven't been any orders, but does a long period of no orders automatically put the model out-of-production?

Even though it says B747-400D is out of production, if either
JAL or ANA wants two or three more later on, Boeing will definitly make the aircrafts for Japanese carriers...

Oh, O.K. That sounds reasonable.

Now would you really want to travel in a 747-400D? I've heard they really pack you in like a can of sardines but even tighter than any domestic flight you've ever thought of. It's almost like the living hell of an fully packed economy A380 experienced today. Yes, the idea of another variant is nice but really who would want to fly in it unless you had to?

Cool

Well, it's embrassing to admit it - as I live in Japan - but I've never been on a -400D. I've been on plenty of 747s (the -400 too) but never the Domestic version.

Is it really that cramped in there?
