Question Pilot myths

why do people think that a person needs to know alot of math for them to become a pilot when they only need to know the basics of math?I found this information out from my flight school, just shows that you don't have to be a math wiz to become a pilot

I'm living proof that math is dreadfully unimportant. Managed to sneak out of high school with basic algebra and beginning geometry only. Had to tackle advanced algebra and sadistics (yeah, that's statistics) in college. None of which matters a bit in the cockpit! If you can add, subract, multiply and divide, you are in!

However if you want to fly the heavies or military, you'll need a science degree to beat out the competition, and a science degree especially in physics, requires a lot of math.
If, like me, you enjoy flying the little guys, then good judgement is all you really need, and the ability to multiply and divide by 6.
