Tahiti Nui and BWIA are in the market for A340-300's. Perhaps they'll take a bite if the offer is cheap enough. The irony here is how does Boeing push both their 777's and the used A340-300's to people? Seems like a conflict of interest although I know the history of their accumulation of these A340's.

In the market for amusing ATC?
Apparently ATC guys are famous for the quick wit!
New York Center: "Please confirm whether you are an A330 or A340."
Air France Airbus: "We are senior pilots. We only fly the A340."
NY Center: "In that case, captain, please fire up your other two engines and get to the altitude and speed that I assigned to you."

Deltaflot,
The short story on this is that Boeing made a deal with SIA to take all of SQ's 17 A340-300's but not A340-500's. In return, SIA would exercise their option for 10 of the 777-200ER's. Of course Airbus was not too pleased with this strategy but then Boeing got the sale so all's fair in love and war. Now that SQ has been receiving 777-200's and 300's, SQ has been sending A340-300's to Boeing and that is now why Boeing has all these A340's for sale. In a way it's really quite sharp of both Boeing and SQ. Boeing gets to sell planes and SQ doesn't have to bother with trying to sell the A340-300's. As it is they're (SQ) already having to sell their A310's as they replace them with 777-200's.
As an aside, the A340-300's were ordered in 1991 in response to SQ's dissatisfaction with the actual performance of the MD-11's they were receiving and subsequently cancelled due to failure to meet specifications.

FWIW both have already sourced their 340s.
Tahiti will get their 340-300s from Canada 3000/Sabena I believe,
and BWIA will get 2 ex-Air Canada 340-300s (AC is getting -500s/-600s).

Forget the drones, the USAF get's enough practice intercepting real airliners for "security" reasons.
I say they turn them into cruise missles, payback's a *****!
